Safeguard is definitely an interesting case. I agree that he counts as a combiner by any terms yet discussed, even if he's all-but certainly not the kind of thing we were thinking about when using the term.

I even HAVE Safeguard, and didn't think of him....

Not me, but mostly because I prefer NEVER to think of that top picture, ever.

 

Though not a true combiner, Magmatron had a combined beast mode that was pretty cool.

i like it except for the jazz-looking headsculpt. it's definitely compromised by being a movie megazord type design, but i can't hate it for what it is. better than iaconus, at any rate.
