Cell just arrived, and as my first 3rd party figure, I'm so impressed with the quality! I've had cheap knockoffs before so was expecting something like that. If I didn't have work I'd probably spend the day messing with it.

I guess the next question is, should I buy pumpkin too? I feel like I should buy pumpkin while it's still $300. That's two Unicrons for the price of Haslab's!

I mean… doesn’t seem there’s gonna be a better representation for that particular character for legends… anyhow, that’s how I’m justifying it.

I didn’t get the Hasbro version… I don’t really want that huge thing anyways, too big. The smaller 01 Studio won’t scale of course, but should still look really big and nice next to legends. Plus that Pumpkin is beautiful. Hopefully MS and NA fill out the movie bots more at some point  

 

it should look great. i have seen a few cells with legends and they are really cool. i would have snagged one but i work my titans with my legends. so the size diff was too much for me.

with that said. now that i have two haslabs i often wonder if that was necessary...#collectorwoes

 

Yeah I never got any of the Titans since I came to legends later in the game, so this will be my first “titan.” I do regret missing out on Metroplex, but this will make me feel better about it.

 

After getting in touch with ShowZ about my wings, they noted a high influx of orders as a cause for the shipping issues. I was given another tracking number, and this one has actually updated to let me know that the box has departed from the Shanghai facility!

 

My pumpkin is in town and won’t arrive to my house until Monday. I’m so excited and anxious at the same time.

 

I just spent $400 on Cell. Talk me out of spending $300 on Pumpkin.

Neither one are totally accurate as far as colors, but both look good on a shelf

I definitely prefer the movie-accurate colors of cell, but something about the deep orange and dark greys of Pumpkin speak to me. I can resist. I can resist.

Also, anyone else's spikes getting really loose after transformation? I tried to be careful.

 

Pumpkin's colors are accurate to a number of shots from the movie, and he's remolded with the orange circle on the back of the planet that Cell unfortunately lacks.

Wait, was I supposed be making a case against buying Pumpkin?

 

I just got pumpkin yesterday and punctured a hole in my finger just handing it. Maybe you should just get one because it’s flipping awesome.

 

1. Take the spikes off.
   
2. Heat up a coffee cup of water in the microwave till its steaming before boiling.
3. Dip just the spike clips into the water and hold them there for like 5 seconds. They reform back to shape.
   
4. Take them out and blow on them to cool them off.
5. You can do the same to any bent tips you have. They self straighten.
   
6. Don't try to crush the clips closed after heating as you may over do it and then might break them trying to get them back on.

 

Had to go back and rewatch the movie and focus on unicron scenes bc I knew he was cell colored in my head. Lo and behold he is mainly when in planet mode buuuut he is also a little grey in some shots. Then towards the end it seem while in bot mode he starts getting darker colors. Blue fades to grey and the orange gets deeper. Maybe its just me. Maybe i need to get rid of my floor model tv and vcr. Who knows?

Edit: oh yeah my point....im getting pumpkin for 300 instead of cell for 400 and im good with it 

 

So... Finally, after 21 days, he (pumpkin) arrived today. (11 days for shipping, not bad! 10 days for them to even ship it...)

And he broke. (Well, one of the shoulder clips that holds the legs for planet mode.) I should've sanded them down beforehand, I just never ever imagined those clips were *THAT* tight. (You see it in videos but you think "oh, maybe it's a matter of strength".) I had to use a long-@$$ screwdriver to get leverage to yank the legs back off to go back to robot mode. I was so disappointed to see that crap. Urgh...

Aside from that, once I snipped all of the trouble areas that wouldn't tab and sanded down those leg tabs (yeah, I wasn't happy about permanently modifying a $300.00 figure...) it started to work a lot better in terms of transformation.
Speaking of transformation... I was pleasantly surprised to see that it's a heck of a lot easier than I was led to believe. (That doesn't mean it's the same experience for every person, not knocking anyone who would have trouble. I can absolutely see why people would throw in the towel on this guy.) I was actually able to get him back and forth in roughly 30 minutes. I was surprised.

Oddly enough, I actually had more trouble getting him back into robot mode than I did planet mode. Those arms are nothin' to mess with and that chest compression really SUCKS. Had no idea that the collar can pop off like that, thought I broke him in another spot. You'd have seen a grown man start crying...

I don't know if he's actually animation accurate (some scenes look like this version, others look like Cell) but he's close enough for me and looks fantastic. He actually feels like a figure you'd buy at the store and not your usual 3rd party. It looks and feels like something Hasbro would produce on the high end of things, you could imagine this being the HasLab figure. After seeing this in person and watching videos of HasLab Unicron, it's like the Twilight Zone. This is what you'd expect Hasbro to make, not that. (Yes, it's better quality than Hasbro stuff, don't get me wrong. It's just closer to an actual toy than an easily broken collectible.)

Well worth the money and a lot of fun!

 

do you have a pic of this? i thought this was strickly a recolor. i didnt know there were any new body panels made for this release.

 

Nothing was remolded, they just added paint onto the panels to make a circle.
