They are garagre shelves from Sams. They have hardboard walls I cut from sheets purchased from home depot. It was inspired by the video I posted here. The Not-Detolf Display Cases Thread
Anyone have this BROR set from Ikea? I'm looking for something with a good shelf depth and adjustable shelves so it can fit multiple Titans.
Top two shelves: The Predacons and Constructicons took up way more space then I expected. Sadly this means no exclusive shelf for just seekers. I’ll easily be able to fit the five other main cassettes on shelf 2 shelf 3 should have enough room for the remaining Seacons (Overbite, Tentakil) and the Stunticons. Shelf 4 will hopefully fit the remaining Triple-Changers, Sixshot, the Insecticons (all seven), the Triggercons, and the Firecons. Bottom shelf: I was just able to get Trypticon in there sideways. Brunt is chilling on top of him. Cyclonus and Scourge are down below by Trypticon’s feet waiting for Galvatron. Not planning on getting any sweeps right now but I think I could get them in there. it’s only a matter of time now before my Decepticon Army is complete. Bwhahaha
I don’t have enough shelf space so the Autobots have gone into storage while the Decepticons get the shelves. I kind of like the fact that I was able to line them up like this. just need Hound and Skids. Not sure if they’ll fit though. EDIT: and Mirage and Sideswipe.
I reorganized a bit so the seekers get their own shelf. the Unicronians will be with the rest of Decepticon high command. and the Predacons are hanging with Trypticon. A little frustrated there isn’t enough room to display them and the other combiners in their combined modes. When my new display case arrives I’ll have to see what I can do. In time I’ll replace these with a smaller display case for more figures and So I can have dedicated shelves for the combined modes. I’ll have to see if IKEA has anything that can fit in my closet. suggestions?
That will work @Trooper028 as it's half the size of a regular detolf, however one Titan/G1 Fortmax [Grand/Brave] will take up the entire case. Hopefully that you have a small and manageable collection (unlike some of us ).
I intend to buy at least two: It’s for the BM Vehicons, the Maximal and Predacons’ different forms (original, Transmetal) that aren’t on the main display cases, Tigertrack and the other Diaclone cars, and the Sweeps and other army build figures I again couldn’t get on the main display cases. These are going in my closet.
Got this far putting my new case together all on my own. Installing doors though is a two person job. plus attaching it to the wall
Top shelf: The remaining Wreckers (Jumpstarters, remaining Triplechangers) second shelf: Dinobots, Aerialbots, Protectobots, and Technobots middle shelf: Blaster, Perceptor, and the rest of the 84-85 cars and minis fourth shelf: Cassettes, 86 Minis, Throttlebots, Monsterbots, Sparkabots, Triggerbots, Quickswitch Bottom shelf: my hope is to squeeze Metroplex in next to Omega.
My displays aren't solely for Transformers. We have two bookshelves of unknown model (they were pre-owned by my in-laws) that are shared between my Transformers, LEGOs, our books, our collective Pops, and miscellaneous. So here are the few shelves dedicated to TFs. First shelf is the four "main" characters plus Omega Supreme (since no other shelf fits him) and Bruticus (a childhood favorite used to balance out the factions). Second and third shelves are rotating casts of Autobots and Decepticons that feature a few constant staples (Computron, Whirl, God Neptune, Thrust, Soundwave), a few new purchases, and a few flavor-of-the-month or haven't-paid-enough-attention-to figures. Fourth and fifth shelves feature a few highlighted themes, Headmasters and Beast Wars. And that's it for our primary bookshelves. Separate from that I have a side table for my movie figures + ultimate X-Spanse in the living room and a bookshelf for the 1986 cast in my office. But we'll be moving soon and I plan on A) using the shelf in the last photo purely for display and B) buying a legit display case to move the rest of the collection into after we move.
So my dad is visiting and I am talking about my plans for the collection. I was explaining how I need more space and what new shelves and display options I was considering. He asks about using the fire place. My intial thought is that's crazy. But the more I think about it the more I think it might just be genius. A bunch of measurements and a trip to home depot later we get this. It let me use a bunch of cheap walmart stuff I had been planning to ger rid of. I'm rather shocked how well it worked out. I have some plans to inprove it, but I'm pretty happy with it. Freed up a bunch more space for more shelves.
Originally Google, its concept art from the movie. I used a large format printer to print it. Use publisher or some other editor to size it to what you need and then print it. Office depot and other print shops can print it. I back mine on foam board. They make a huge difference. I tend to wait till I know exactly for sure what the shelf is going to be before I print them. I've had a lot of issues with having to redo shelves.
Take it from me don't cheap out on the furniture. I started with cheap Walmart shelves. In the long run I would of been better off ($$$) starting with quality shelves/display. Most of your MP figures probably cost more than those shelves. Those only hold 15lbs a shelf and are only 12 inch cubes. If your planning on doing 1 figure a shelf it might not be a problem. Trust me its not a lot of space. Here is the same sized cubes in my misfits display. If you want cubes I'd spend more. I have a cube display from Ikea, but you can get similar at elsewhere. The backing is just foam display board attached with small nails. This is an old picture, but you can see the how much more space there is for the Marvel ladies. These cubes are 13.5Lx13.5Wx15inch deep, 28lbs per shelf. Its sitting on cinder blocks with a skirt hiding them.
