Piggybacking off the MCU show, I was wondering what some of the big divergence moments would be for some of the Transformers series. IDW put out a comic that covered an obvious one (What if Kup prevented Hot Rod from intervening in Optimus and Megatron's duel), but what are some others?

Like what if Arcee had tamped down her hatred of Starscream and he had joined the Autobots in Prime?

Or what if Ultra Magnus had decided to remain on Earth until Megatron had been located and captured in Animated?

 

What if Steeljaw appear in rescue Bots academy?

 

What if Animated Season 4?

 

What if Starscream's ghost possessed Galvatron instead?

 

What If Rhinox Remained a Predacon

What If Death's Head Killed Rodimus Prime

What If Dinobot Lived

 

Tankor

 

Not Beast Machines-related. What if, at the end of "Dark Designs," Rhinox successfully killed Megatron and assumed leadership of the Predacons. Lotta ways that could go, none of which are even basically Tankor.

(And at a bare minimum, I think "it wound up basically what already happened anyway" would be lazy storytelling.)

 

What if? Hasbro actually cared and put effort/money behind the franchise instead of churning out rushed, under budgeted series like wfc and cyberverse.

 

What if Unicron Transforms Cybertron to Robot mode in Beast Wars Neo.

 

I guess Hearts of Steel was kinda like Elseworlds or What If.

 

I don’t have many What If? Ideas. More Twilight Zone. Mini anthology stuff that is unique to the universe but nothing worth making a whole series set in a universe.

Like a gothic style Vampire cult Constructicons story where they are seen as an ancient evil captured and hidden in an eternal slumber. One Constructicon is re awaken and is on an quest to unite the 6 and bring “Devastation” to Cybertron and a group of vampire hunting autobots fighting back.

Shogun era Japan like Cybertron where the bots are Samerai. (Inspired by the Iron Factory figures).

A Rodimus Prime story that ultimately is about moving on in life after the death of your parents. Basically G1 movie and Season 3 but with a Pixar like maturity.

 

I'd like to see a more proper TF through history that Hearts of Steel did and TLK tried to do. I think theres plenty of potential there to work with, like different naval ships and Ford Model Ts and Studebakers and whatnot. More Biplanes please

 

What if Brave Maximus was Activated in the BW2 series instead of CR.

What if the Axalon and Darksyde landed in Asia, so they were away from the Vok experiments and wouldn't have triggered their planet buster?

What if an Allspark fragment didn't land in Animated starscream's head?

What if Megatron didn't pre-emptively try to kill Predaking when he was still loyal in Beast Hunters?

What if Rhinox had been freed from the Tankor shell program properly?

What if Starscream never fired those parting shots at the Ark which knocked Optimus into the repair beam?

What if Starscream was the first one back online after the Ark crash instead of Skywarp?

What if Smokescreen took the Matrix instead of reforging Optimus at the start of Beast Hunters?

What if Ratchet didn't need that?

 

What if Dion became Prime instead of Orion Pax?

 

What if that embarrassing Deviations comic was never published? (hint: the world would be a better place)

 

Actually it came to my head while playing with SS Mixmaster. He looks like a vampire. Then the dark gothic Cybertron idea came to me. I like mixing genres and themes into transformers. It could open up some interesting stories.

 

That comic rules, it's not just "what if Optimus lives," it's "and all those stupid 86 characters DIE and Hot Rod ADMITS he was STUPID and NOT AS GOOD AS OPTIMUS PRIME AND THEN DIES BECAUSE HE'S STUPID DO YOU HEAR ME DIES DIES DIES"

 

What if Prime never died so there was never a Rodimus Prime or leaders after him?
