Just annoyed with Hasbro's decision to just put G1 everywhere, what is the point in having Studio Series AND Generations simultaneously doing G1 characters? thats 2 lines filled up with that universe of characters. I wish Kingdom had just been all Beast Wars that would have been so much better. I'm not even hating on G1 for the sake of it or anything I love G1 I just don't care for this oversaturation. I feel like Hasbro should go into making Transformers generations more like how they do Marvel Legends, just do a theme per wave because I'm not fond of what we currently do where Generations is majority G1 and sometimes we get other generations of characters alongside them. Either commit to a theme for the whole year or just do a theme per wave, not just a majority of G1 in every possible line.
Heh heh, yeah. Shang Chi would like to have a word with us... Everyone: "Who?" War for Cybertron Trilogy certainly isn't motivating my toy purchases. <rant> I don't see how they could get the casting for the Beast Wars characters so frigging wrong. They turned Beast Megatron into a slope-skulled dewey-eyed simp, what the heck? I know you can't just get the same voice actors but I feel like the director of that show should not be directing Transformers media. How many terrible shows does F.J. DeSanto have to work on before they let someone else take the reins? Directed PWT, Executive on WfCT as well as writing or story for most episodes... Pew.
It's bullshit that so many of the SS86 figures look so good yet Grimlock and Slag are covered in greeble.
I can see where you are coming from generally but would quibble with this most recent FFF. I for the life of me don’t understand why they announced the SS86 figures, which won’t even be released until 2022, when they have a complete wave of figures that will be hitting stores in 6 weeks if not sooner. Indeed at this point Kingdom Wave 4 must be already packed up and getting ready for shipping. At this rate the figures could even hit retail before they are officially revealed, especially if their plan is to wait until PulseCon. And yes Hasbro’s reveals now are better than their radio silence of the near past, but I remember when Hasbro would release a booklet showing every single figure offered for that particular year. That made it far easier to plan for what you will be picking up.
The greeble is the only reason I've even considered getting them. The rest of the line looks just too underdetailed. If we get nice toy-based Selects versions, the molded detail will go really well with the more detailed/complete deco. I'm holding out for that hypothetical release, and if it doesn't happen, I'm fine with the POTP Dinobots and MP Grimlock. Of course, I did get Hot Rod and Jazz, and being underwhelmed by them is a big part of why I'm not getting any other SS86 toys.
I remember that as well. "Here is a catalog of all of the toys we will release this year, oh and they'll be available, not only all YEAR long, but in EVERY store." Limited releases, bad distribution, exclusives, and scalpers from hell are what we get now with a quarterly update to keep our fingers on the pre-order buttons. This is fucked.
It says "The Transformers The Movie" on the box. The Hasbro Pulse product page says "designed with specs and details to reflect the Transformers movie universe". A shitload of greeble on the Dinobots doesn't fit that statement. It should look just like cartoon.
I'd hardly call the level of detailing on the Dinobots a "shitload of greeble". Just enough to have some visual interest IMO. ANd IIRC that statement was revealed to be just marketing copy anyway - SS86 grew out of the reshuffling of WFC to include Beast Wars, so the extra molds had to go somewhere. So Hasbro slapped a bland, low detail paintjob on them and called them a TFTM line.
I'm going to get a piece of paper, write "a decent deluxe galvatron" on it, put it in my collection display case, then I'm going to take a picture of it and share it wherever I can. And I'll compliment it with his previous form -- a piece of paper saying "a deluxe megatron that isn't thoroughly screwed by aesthetics and/or gimmicks", and their arch nemesis -- "a deluxe optimus that isn't thoroughly screwed by aesthetics, gimmicks, or having a space for a trailer that doesn't freaking exist" and studio 86 hot rod (he's not that bad)
I'm kind of a weirdo. I don't like the current generations scaling, and I don't like MP. What I like is the idea of "legends scale" -- smaller toys = less space taken up, costs less than MP per figure, basically an absolute win for me. In theory. I don't actually like how legends centric 3rd parties do their sizing, so I've been hunting down hasbro "deluxes" for filling out certain casts. And for a good part of it I've been kinda successful, but the trouble that's bugging me is how the "deluxe" offerings for megatron, optimus, and galvatron all have something that ruins them for me personally. Aesthetics that clash with the rest of my collection, poor construction or design, gimmicks that affect posing, and optimus cabs looking weird without trailers (to me). The piece of paper thing is me trying to be snarky like "and this is where I'd have a good galvatron. IF HASBRO COULD MAKE ONE". This is all admittedly entirely silly and it's all my own silly doing for getting riled up over it.
That makes so much more sense, now. Thank you for actually taking the time to explain it, I genuinely appreciate the time and effort taken.
I can't find the thread but if anyone can would you be so kind to recommend ya boy some good long lasting lights for my Tformers display?
I've been bitten by the QC bug. OK, Kingdom Tracks is Kingdom Tracks; ain't no one getting away alive with that one. Rodimus his back tab refuses to stay inserted in the slot, popping out a minute or so after getting it in. Ark has a broken piece and a missing blast effect. Got it from Amazon which can't replace it to it'll cost me $20 more to get it from BBTS (kicking myself for cancelling my Pulse PO before opening the box). Generation Toy Op Ex is floppy AF.
I use those ten dollar LED strips with the sticky backs, they color change and adjust brightness, and I can power them with a spare phone battery. I do happen to have both primes, and their aesthetics are almost not clashing. Honestly I really should be content with the one that has a waist rotation ball joint. They're good toys, great primes, almost perfect save for the few gripes I have. That megatron skews a bit further from my aesthetic taste, but if I ever have 50 buckaroos on me I may as well try the guy in hand. Don't take that out of context.
After EIGHT delay emails: Not pictured: The other Tracks I ordered and they cancelled. No Deluxes for me then! I wish Target was a person so I could give him a swift kick in the jimmy!!
I hope this will be the very last time you trust your pre-orders with Target or Walmart. I read all the warnings myself, then still decided to try ordering from Walmart.com. Even though it was in-stock items, they cancelled on me a total of 8 times before I was able to resolve the issues via the phone system. Never again!!
honestly hasbro should pull their act together and make sure stuff gets into stores. on amazon australia we still havent had jolt or thrust let alone ss86 wave 3
