Thanks mate, I never look on there as being in the UK I'll get shafted with import and handling fees, but I might just give it a go and see what happens. I guess the estimated August release is highly unlikely

The release date has been sliding since May. MMC is always fluid with their release schedule, but the tradeoff is that the reliability of quality is usually better IMO.

 

Cool, I might try there instead, guessing they are Hong Kong from the currency options and from past experience usually the Asian countries are good with the customs value. Surprised Show Z hasn't had any pre orders for it despite it being up on the other pages for a long time as you say

 

There's a point where its worth noting they've already taken people's money for this, and are refusing to deliver a product for that money.

Like sure, scheduling and that, but at a point it's conscious decision on their part to keep putting this on the backburner (Heck putting out re-issue of releases they've made after announcing this and taking people's money for it). "What's a bit longer" only carries so far.

All in all another cautionary tale against pre-ordering anything ever in any field.

 

No argument here. I definitely get that and agree.

Not that it's our problem or our burden as customers to bear, but I do wonder if reissues like these are because companies are hurting for liquid capital. I mean Bad Cube put out a reissue. That's Altered Beast level rising from the grave.

 

Probably just coz theres demands and reissues are cheaper to make since the molds are there.

I mean it is good business and in general I don't mind re-issue. I do think that in the particular case of D-zef MMC's getting away with behavior almost no other company would because they are well beloved (And I get that, I love my MMC figures).

 

MMC was My absolute favorite Toy Company, But the way They have treated this D-Zef situation has made Me reconsider the way I feel about them and if I want to continue doing business with them. I love them but this kind of behavior can get abused and I hope MMC doesn't continue to do it with other releases. I have had it on preorder for over 3 years and in that time they have continuously gave out wrong release dates, They have barely posted any shots of the prototype, No colored shots of the prototype. I mean honestly They have hardly kept us up to date with it in general. I can wait for it if I know I'm getting a good product, But if it takes as long as this release has I would like better communication and alot more public statements on how the release is coming along.

 

Why don't you just message them on Facebook and ask them. I did a few months ago and got all my questions answered on D-zef. They had a serious QC issues with a bracket that attached the upper body to lower body as it would get stress marks and crack, so they had to do a major redesign to fix the issues.

Then early this year they decided to retooled it to make idw look more idw and g1 look more g1. I know all this info is already been posted here, you just have to go back to earlier pages to see it. But my best advance is to just fb message mmc. I always get a response in a few hours.


You even responded to the post stating In your own point of view that d-zef would more than likely be out early 2022, and that it's a good thing they took time to make sure that there were no more qc issues.

I just cancelled my pre-order for R42-C D-Zef. Just not feeling it anymore. I’ll just wait for a official not half assed Hasbro one to come out in like 20 years or never.

Almost cancelled Anarchus/Kaon reissue (was expecting him Nov 2020, but yeah, covid), but I’m already deep with the DJD, but I’m calling it quits after that.

Don’t get me wrong, LOVE MMC, but I have a hella short attention span, and honestly Hasbro has a lot of fun stuff coming out.

Most likely will get Mentis/Rung for sure.

 

That again, only accounts for part of the delay on a product they've taken preorders on back in mid 2018.

Like, yeah, nice they are doing stuff and improving on it. But that doesn't change they took people's money, sat on this for years, and only just now are "It's releasing maybe in fall maybe 2022 we don't know for sure"

Heck if anything it raises further question if the figure needed redesigns to be "more idw/g1" and to fix QC why they felt good about taking people's money over it before all those were done.

Lastly, "Well if you go and chase them they'll give you updates" is still piss poor customer service when you have, again, taken people's money already, have their emails for at least the one store you own, so you can just give out info freely.

Like, lets not pretend "Planet X beat them to the punch with a Deathsaurus of their own, and this project lost priority because the potential demand waned, and MMC put it on the back burner, but couldn't straight up cancel it coz they already had taken preorders but figured those who paid can just wait with no news" isn't a big part of this figure's story.

 

Are people paying up-front for pre-orders?

Fair. Like I said earlier, this is yet another chapter in the numerous warnings against pre-order culture.

 

The worst part with this is that Planet X announced their figure first. MMC seemingly announced DZef in response to keep their fans from buying Ismenios.

 

As long as this damn thing comes out eventually, I'm happy. I'm just grateful it didn't get cancelled like Dai-Z and Grimlock, and I'd prefer them to work out the QC before they release a figure. The delays aren't some sinister cash grab, it's perfectionism.

 

Ok that's what I just said again, But this time I added I'm getting sick of the lack of communication. The consumer shouldn't have to track down the company lol. It's there job to keep us updated and imo they have did a bad job and failed in that aspect. I can wait if it means a better product, all I'm saying is why can't they post updates on Facebook,Twitter,Instagram more instead of worrying about the 18th re release.Also my preorder was paid for up front at Chosen Prime daimchoc but only because I wanted to get it paid and not worry about it.

 

Edit: My preorder has been paid in full for over 3 years and every 6 months are so it gets pushed back, then three months later pushed up then back again.

 

I mean I see where you're coming from, but people can always cancel their preorder and get their money back, if they are worried about that. So thats really not an issues. Everything has a solution, it may not be the solution they want. But I'm the kind of person that takes action and doesn't wait for answers. I do what has to be done myself to get what I want.

Agreed, it would be nice if MMC did a full monthly/ bi monthly announcements on the progress of their already officially announced products. But these update would also be seen by competitors. Mmc seems to have gone a more silent until the figure almost factory ready route. Like with Eris and Mentis. Also I feel like Lazyaza and RVDV have done an amazing job at keeping us all updated here on the forum (of what they are allowed to say). But yeah I can see if Mmc did a social media post like:

Artist focus on new mmc-R, OX IF, PS, U designs,

but then you'd have companies trying to get their similar figures out before or at the same time as mmc which in their mind would hurt their numbers. But I feel at the level mmc has gotten to they don't need to worry so much about other 3p. But that's my opinion.

I also feel like we will be getting a lot of updates and news from mmc come the next few months (Oct-march) with 3 TFcons...Oct, Dec, March that's probably 6 exclusives in 6 months.
