I'm rewatching Rescue Bots, and this show kicks ass with how well the bots and humans work well with each other!

Rescue Bots, no contest. Honestly, I didn't care about the human kids in TFP, and the bonds just didn't feel interesting or engaging at all to me (two bland characters in the form of Bumblebee and Raf, one boring kid in the form of Jack and an incredibly hateful and annoying character in the form of Arcee and finally, a total annoyance in the form of Miko and a surprisingly fun character in the form of Bulkhead which is kinda unfortunate that he's paired with the most infuriating human), whereas in Rescue Bots, I actually had fun with the interactions.

Prime. I actually get teary eyed every time i watch the finale where the bots say goodbye to the kids.

"It's ok, Bee. You don't need to say anything."

    "I never did."

Rescue Bots succeeded on this level for a number of reasons. The lower stakes definitely help. When you have Transformers dealing with human problems, it makes more sense that they'll need to rely on human experience to solve them. Nearly every other show has human children inexplicably solving Transformer problems, which is fun to watch when you're younger, but you kinda have to grit your teeth about when you look at it with older eyes.

I also like how the show is pleasantly angst-free, and that these characters just want to learn and help other people. I've said before that Rescue Bots has my favorite human cast in the entirety of the franchise, and that extends to a lot of the minor characters in Griffin Rock as well.

I don’t think there’s that much hate for it as it is seen here, but there is no doubt the show was a disappointment to many in the fan base.

I never really got the "bond" between the humans of TFP and the Autobots, especially Raf and Bee. They had an unexplained ability to communicate and yet hardly had that much of a dynamic or friendship. I only ever really recall Bumblebee getting angry when Raf was injured as a moment of actual character development between them.

Rescue Bots was all about the teamwork and relationships between the humans and the Autobots, however.

Even though Sari isn’t technically a human, I thought her friendship with the autobots, especially with bumblebee and Bulkhead was one of the best I ever seen between cybertronians and humans as far as being friends and teammates are concerned.

Only on this website. Prime is a fantastically written show that just gets better the more you think about it so i don't get where the hate comes from.

Miko is an excellent human companion who's only flaw is not getting the memo that everyone on her show is supposed to gaze ominously at the gathering stormclouds and whisper something about an approaching menace at least three times an episode. Fowler is fun. Pour one out for Markie Post, RIP to a real one.

Beypnd that, I've only watched Rescue Bots while babysitting a kid who was into it, but the humans seemed to have personalities, which puts them a level above Jack and Raf, who can be replaced by wooden chairs that have "Jack" and "Raf" written on them without losing much.

Personally I have nothing against any specific episode, but the show as a whole is incredibly tedious. The whole thing is so tonally and visually monotonous that it all runs together. Years later I can't remember any real major events. I recall that Unicron was Earth. There was a big... I want to say spaceship or tower or something? I dunno. They definitely looked across the mesas at it and whispered gravely about the threat it posed, I know that.

Ehh..I wouldn't say fantastically written. The show has quite a few flaws but it's alright IMO.

Bro, look for example at the way they conclude Bee's character arc. He kills Megatron, the one who had caused him great trauma 3 separate times, and then gets his voice restored by the cybermatter that Ratchet created. Meaning that Ratchet can now let go of his guilt over not being able to save Bee's voice because now his creation is what gave Bee his voice back.

    That's very good writing.

And they undid that immediately afterwards by reviving Megatron. That for me was just an anti-climax. The people behind the show promised that when characters died, they died, but Megatron gets constantly revived, Bumblebee is revived and Optimus gets a new body, so that basically shows how pretentious the show was. It wanted to give the feeling that it was mature, but in reality, it was scared to take risks.

It doesn't help that out of the five main Autobots, the only one I gravitated towards was Bulkhead. Ratchet was an annoyance to me, Optimus just is the epitome of bland, Bumblebee left no impression on me and Arcee... she was the worst. There was no growth from her. She always remained the same from start to finish.

Honestly, the only TF show I would call fantastically written is Beast Machines (G1 got better in the last two seasons IMO, BW did have a few sore spots and RiD01 is mainly the show I'm most nostalgic for). Now that is a show that has bold ideas, creativity, actual character growth and shows the protagonists in constant danger.

Lol, come on. None of this happens as the resolution to a character arc, or the conclusion of a plotline. It happens because it's the last episode, the next show in which Bumblebee is the leader is being developed, and he has to turn from "guy who spent the last three years saying beep boop" to commander of the Autobots very, very quickly.

It does, however, require taking the "Smokescreen is the destined next leader" arc/plot they had started developing, and gently hucking it out the window, resolved in no way except one line from Smokescreen to the effect of, "there are no hard feelings, and I think kids everywhere should watch Robots in Disguise!"

I don't feel like Megatron and bumblebee's relationship was developed enough for it to mean anything. Also I'm not too sure if ratchet indirectly fixing bee's voicebox is good writing.

As someone that likes TFP & the humans on TFP, Rescue Bots still wins all day, every day. RB probably has the best humans & human/TF interactions of any TF show.
