It is TFNATION this weekend and as part of Club Con (the saturday night entertainment there are three mysterious sections with capitalised words spelling out TRIAL OF MEGATRON.

Nothing has been confirmed but it may be worth tuning in to find out this evening (UK times)

 

For context, at TFNation 2019 (the con's most recent IRL event) there was a presentation of the story treatment that the Transformers Animated crew had written for a three-part opening story of season 4, named "Trial of Megatron".

The treatment was ultimately discarded when the show didn't get renewed, and remained the property of Hasbro, but Marty Isenberg was able to get permission for a presentation of the treatment, on the grounds that no recordings were allowed. In a big surprise, he actually managed to arrange for most of the original cast to prerecord their characters' sections of the treatment, donating their time for free to support TFN's charity partner Mary's Meals.

So that's what might be streaming on the TFNation YouTube channel this evening at 18:30, 19:40 and 20:40 BST (three slots for the three episodes) - the original cast of Animated reading the unusued treatment for the season 4 premiere.

 

Hasbro do us all a favor....please make Animated season 4 already.

 

For Netflix, that is!

This is so so cool of them to pull off, and I'm thankful to Hasbro for finally letting it be released!

 

While I'm glad that this was able to happen, I'm not pleased with a lot of the plot points.

 

I love Animated a lot but I was pretty underwhelmed by that three-part novel with the .... at times questionable art, because it felt really rushed and was trying to cycle through a lot of plot points.

 

I want them to continue the Sari origin story. And I want an Upgrade Form figure.

In any case, it's nice to see Animated back in some form.


And maybe it could lead to something bigger.

 

Oh, how I’ve missed the Animated cast. I actually teared up when I heard new lines from Jeff Bennett as Prowl. I had no idea that would affect me like it did, but I’m glad it did.

 

Nooo!!!!! Then they'll hire terrible voice actors and ruin it.

Just saw a YouTube video with original BW voices dubbed over on kingdom footage and the show was insanely more epic.

It's always a treat hearing Corey Burton's take on Megatron. Outside of Frank Welker, I'd argue that Burton is the most talented voice actor ever to have appeared in a Transformers series. The rest of the cast was also great and it's awesome that this sort of thing was possible.

 

Oh, Corey killed it. He enjoyed every single breath he took for this reading and it was delightful.

 

If TF: Animated is getting a fourth season then this will not only give this show a satisfying conclusion but also bring back a bit more life to the franchise.

 

Absolutely magnificent. Well done, all involved!

 

Look, Netflix could always reunite the original cast of Animated.

 

I can honestly say that Animated is the only Transformers cartoon that made me cry. Damn, Prowl.
