We can only guess what "more improved" means but seeing as how the original was based on their v1 legends figure and they've got an improved v2 legends figure coming out, it isn't too much of a leap to think the new one will be based on v2.

I'm almost there. I only need Perceptor to compete my collection goal (got ft pre-ordered and I'm cautiously watching XTB). I'm gonna replace my main seeker trio with DS and I'll get XTB's Runabout/Runamuck because I always enjoyed them and the Decepticon S2 lineup is a little lacking, but after that I'm done. But I'm a sucker for Prime. I'll always buy a good prime. If MS MP Prime is good enough to kick my MP44 KO off the shelf, I've got some modding ideas for him.

I don't think it'll slow production as much as you think. MS recently released the Nightbird version of their peach girl (SD Arcee) and it doesn't seem to be hurting their legends production.

Same. If it's as good as the legends version, MP44KO will be custom fodder.

 

I guess it depends on how they do it. If they do a bunch of MP Prime recolors back to back and it sells like hot cakes, prompting more reissues, it could slow legends down. MP Prime is a totally different animal than their SD Arcee.

But, MS production has been cranking things out so maybe you’re right and it won’t be as bad.

I practically stalk their Weibo and they haven’t mentioned a MP Prime 2.0 even once. Maybe they’ll end up doing one but seeing as there’s zero other info i feel like they’re just being hopeful and putting a $2 deposit up in advance

 

That would be amazing because this guy would be the best of MP-10 and MP-44.

 

Well that's obviously not a new mold if its name is still "MS-01X+ Light of Freedom."   I would guess they're just re-releasing MS-01 in an updated deco, since he's been sold out for a while and there still seems to be some demand for him.

Let's squash the rumours of a new Magic Square MP Optimus 2.0 until there's more than zero to base them on.

It is indeed little to go on, but I seriously doubt ShowZ would put a listing like that up without at least some information to base it on, so we can assume an MP Optimus is coming from MST (of course I suppose it's possible MS communicated something about the legends v2 and ShowZ misunderstood but I don't think that's the most likely explanation).

And you're right - it may simply be an updated deco of the old mold. But I still think it's more likely that, given the success of porting v1 to MP, the enthusiasm that any new Prime receives, and just how damned good the v2 is, that they'll choose to knock it out of the park again. I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll be seeing a v2 MST MP Prime and, with how good the legends version looks, I think the speculated MP may be the finest transforming G1 Prime toy yet.

 

Maybe I wasn't clear; I wasn't suggesting there was miscommunication or misinformation. I was saying that listing is for a re-release of MS-01 with an improved deco. I assume that's what MS told ShowZ, because that's what the listing says.

It's perfectly possible MS might make a new MP mold based on this 2.0 legends Prime eventually, but that would probably be a ways off, and this MS-01 listing is zero indication of it.

Also, if they're getting back into the MP game, they still need to make a Megatron 1.0! Based on their legends Megs, it would probably blow MP-36 out of the water.   (But honestly, I'd prefer they focus on legends; much easier on my shelves and wallet!)

No, I get what you're saying. They don't say deco. They say "more improved version." V2 shares some engineering with V1 so, if they do an MP based on V2, it could be described as a more improved version of the old MP. And I agree, I'd love for them to do an MP Megatron. Hell, I'd love to see MPs of several of their figures, but I don't think I'd buy them at this point.

Did you get preceptor/deadly? He’s better looking than the FT and xtb offerings IMO. And about 1/3-1/4 of the price.

 

Yeah, I got him. My MP collection is separate from my legends. With a handful of exceptions, my MP collection stops at TFTM and I'm skipping Bruticus and Defensor. Legends, if they appeared in the us cartoon or us Marvel comic, I'll get them.

just to explain i have nothing against Snaku just ShowZ puts listings up with 0 info on final price, release date, product pics, or sometimes if something even exists so great for an early confirmed preorder but not great for having literally any info abt price, release, etc

i’m willing to bet the listing is intended as a placeholder for if (or when lets be real its pretty inevitable) MS MP Optimus 2.0 drops

 

It does happen though, where they’ll tell retailers about a future release but not say a peep on their Weibo about it.

They’ve confirmed a metallic Perceptor to both Showz and Terry TFS without mentioning it anywhere else.

Personally I hope they don’t make another MP, but it’s definitely possible ShowZ was told there’d be one even though there’s no other info anywhere.

 

Right. But it doesn’t impact you. Like at all. At ALL. The rest of us just get our ish quicker sometime since we preorder there, as seen in the MS devy thread, where showz orders are landing on US steps and US retailers don’t have them yet, not to mention it’s usually about 40% cheaper. Not always first but often. But this bothers you unreasonably, as you are not required to put money down, or even click the link… just keep scrolling about your happy little day, no? If you want to pay more to get your shit more slowly, hey, that doesn’t impact me. At ALL… but could you please do that shit quietly?

all I’m saying is usually if i’m scrolling a thread to see when a new figure is roughly coming out and how much it’ll cost, I’ll occaisonally see a PO link and go “oh maybe there’s more details about this” and click it and it’s ShowZ which 99% of the time doesn’t give that

maybe i’m totally offbase then cause i’ve just never seen that happen personally

That used to annoy the hell out of me too. Someone would be like, "Pre-order up," and I'd get all mad 'cuz it wasn't a real pre-order. I eventually got over it, though, because I realized it benefitted me. Sure I'd rather see a real pre-order with the actual price but these "placeholder" pre-orders mean that I can throw a dollar at ShowZ and no longer have to worry about whether I'll be able to find it later and, if I decide it's too expensive when the real price is revealed, I can just cancel it and put that dollar toward something else.
