SS86 Gnaw is really great, but he's not flawless.

Oddly, for a SS figure, he could stand to be a little more accurate. His shark mode doesn't have the little antennae on his head, and his robot mode doesn't have the Dinobot-style kibble wings popping up from behind his shoulders. (It totally could have used those panels to hide the legs better in shark mode, too. Ah well.) It comes with the gun the original toy had, which is another not-very-SS kind of detail. It's tempting to think the budget for the gun easily could have gone to the antennae, if not the panels, but maybe they would end up so thin they'd be too fragile. Or maybe the designer just loved the old toy too much. Neither detail is the end of the world. I do wish the robot head hid better in shark mode. It's obviously inside the mouth, and if you look at it from below, Gnaw's face is sometimes pretty visible because the bottom jaw has a big hole in it.

All that said - he's tons of fun. Robot mode has most of the articulation expected from a modern figure (no waist, unfortunately). Transformation is fun, and he converts super quick. He looks great with the rest of your Quintesson army, even your TR Sharkticons. In beast mode he's clearly the leader of the pack, but he's not so big that you'll feel like you wasted your money troop building the smaller version.

That said, you'll still probably want to own several of him, too.

Thanks. Just a BBTS order that came in, so I didn't think I had him super early. I did wonder why there wasn't a thread, yet...

Think he's slowly starting to show up but a nice review.

He's definitely one that I've warmed to quite a bit the more I see of him. I wouldn't mind picking up one or two of these guys if I can find them handy enough, but I don't think I'll be going out of my way to get one

I've got three en route from BBTS.

I'll probably display the SS86 versions in robot mode, and the MFT Sharkies in Sharkticon mode.

Great review! Got him on preorder from TT. Can’t wait to get him in November.
Although part of me wonders if we’ll see an improved KO of this guy at some point.

I don’t know how I missed this guy not having a neck but that’s really disappointing. I thought it was just stiff but no, that’s truly not moving.

I also had to trim the post of his shark fin and glue it because pegging the back plate on in robot mode was forcing the fin out of the hole. Still, a charming little chubster but only having slight up/down neck movement is a big let down.

If you're talking about the robot mode, he has neck articulation.

Damn, mine must be a lemon then. I’ve tried extensively and that thing ain’t moving, if it’s on a ball joint it’ll tear off at the stem before it moves.

Looks like they only got a limited number of figures in their first batch. *big shrug* It happens.
