I feel like it's all but destined to be a rare and pricey figure in the future. His chunky, goofy design makes him unappealing to all the uncultured plebeian casuals out there, which will make Fanstoys disinclined to ever reissue him, but there are tons of future diehards who haven't gotten into MP collecting yet who will eventually shell out big bucks to have the best, most toon accurate Seaspray in their G1 collection. Just watch.

This is why I filled an entire bank vault with unopened boxes of Spindrift 2.0.

I might agree with you if we didn’t already have 3 examples of MP spindrift. To me it seems destined for a clearance rack :(

Oh it'll be on a clearance rack for a damn long time.

Then it'll never be put back on the rack again.

I like mine a lot, and am happy with the purchase. I think $100 was a bit on the steep side for a minibot, but the character has emotional value to me so I think he was worth it.

That doesn't make sense. Lots of 3P figures sell out quickly and later receive multiple reissues.

Ok so based on that logic why wouldn’t FT reissue this figure?

Then you’ll have about 20 people who missed out who’ll complain about why doesn’t FT reissue it because it’s only on eBay for $400.

No, not every figure ends up on the clearance racks. There are many 3rd party figures who weren’t popular the first time around and has not been reissued.

"In agreement"? No. Also, far from "irrelevant". The reason for the excess retail stock is, just like Springer, there are half a dozen or so MP iterations out there and FT Spindrift 2.0 is just the most recent of them. Many people have already spent $70-100 on a version of Seaspray and feel that was good enough. Some have even already double or triple dipped. It wouldn't matter if this was FT or XTB or TW or whom ever. It is the last one of, what 6 or so MP 3rd party Seasprays...? It is going to linger at retail for a while.

That said, I have had all major iterations so far. FT Spindrift 2.0 is the best over all of all the MP Seaspray iterations out there. Period. I did like the real world detail of XTB Neptune but the build was not that great and he is very fiddley and things don't tab in or just don't have tabs, the transformation is not fun and at times feels like it is going to fall apart. It is not solid in the slightest and the white paint is a bit spotty. At least on mine. I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Neptune's Lanky limbs and pot belly make the silhouette too derpy for me and don't resemble either the toy or the toon. FT nailed the paint, nailed the transformation (rare for FT), nailed the build. I know some would disagree but, nailed the silhouette. FT Spindrift 2.0 is stocky with a pot belly but still heroic. Very much LOTR Dwarven warrior vibe. Not derpy. While I would have liked some more real world scale model details, over all FT is the best of what is out there this time.

Sorry if this turned into a bit of a rant. I just don't agree with your statement. In fact, I feel exactly the opposite in that this is the MOST relevant version of the character because I feel it is the best version and because FT done F'ed up with 1.0 :)

I meant they all end up getting sold out. Spindrift 2.0 is no exception and it’s nothing special because of it. Besides, it’s probably the only FT release that has never sold out on most sites. I’m just saying wait for the inevitable clearance on this guy

I am in agreement with your assessment. Retailers couldn’t get rid of Lupus with deep markdowns. Then people ended up paying $600 for it. Relevancy can also become more apparent in time.

Because it sold poorly the first time.

Sorry, but that’s not true. Lupus sat for a long ass time, as did their Dracula and even Rouge. Now we are seeing it with the Sovereign, Quietus and Apache reissues. I would know because I am a poors, so I waited and scored.

I’d like know what you think is the most irrelevant FT release then. NOT including repaints and reissues. Don’t say there isn’t one lol you have to pick one.

P.S you want on a long winded tangent over my question and you didn’t even fully understand it. I said most irrelevant FT, not most irrelevant version of spindrift.

I agree with everything you said except for the "done f'ed up" part with v1. Though just technically. I definitely agree they missed the mark on his look. But using your Neptune description as comparison, v1 is a great little figure with a fun transformation, good articulation, solidity in both modes, die cast in the right places. His obvious issue is the lacking potbelly and accurate silhouette. And I totally get why that's a deal breaker.

Reason I mention that, it's my main reason for not getting this v2. I'm very happy with my v1. Plus it was $41 during those old flash sales, so $90 just to get an accurate beer gut is a big no for me. :D

The MP Prime trailer. At least now!

Or the non-universal, universally available, blue instead of clear, 'universal stand'.
