    Starscream looks good.
But the regular retail release looks so good already that I really question the existence of this line.

It makes less sense when you consider people wanted a clean version of this mold.
I don't remember anyone stating they wanted more weathering and battle damage.

And the line makes even less sense than that when the Premium Finish figure is based upon a Studio Series figure.
Isn't that what Studio Series is supposed to be? A kind of premium finish and screen accurate figure?

What figure are you looking at?

I do think in general Studio Series is very much screen accurate in basically all cases in the sculpt department, it's just that the amount of paint apps on these mass release figures is never going to be enough to bring out all the detail. So I don't mind releases like this that do what a retail release can't. And ultimately if the figure is 99.9% there from the sculpting department, you can always finish the paint job on your own. The sculpt / design is something you can't really fix in most cases (except in cases like Ratchet with the roof rack mod).

It's unfortunate that part of this premium finish is painting the entire vehicle when they didn't reall *need* to do so. I would have been fine with just yellow-green plastic and more paint applied elsewhere on the figure.

Any comparison pics? I don't own Siege Starscream, so I don't see the difference.

the original seems lighter grey and between most of the seekers, it was always the same damage paint pattern

Oof, that is not a flattering look at this toy when it's a $20 premium and has to be scrutinized to figure out where it's been improved. The eyes pop, they look great, no doubt there. But the same parts are left unpainted in both modes, which looks way worse on the PF alt mode since much more of the deco now goes higher up before abruptly stopping.

It doesn't look like the sides of the forearms, the sides of the legs, the insides of the wings, or the null ray cannons are painted, so where is this budget going? A somewhat more intricate printed over tampographed weathering deco in the same front only pattern? I don't know how just replacing one surface-level deco with another is going to satisfy premium buyers. It looks a little better, but not $20 better.

@Seawing hi! Shouldn't these repaints be talked about in their original figure threads instead of a new one?

True, first one was already great. It is only different shades of color/darker colors here. magnus is darker as well (with grey truck instead of white)
Megatron is very close/similar to Netflix versions (since they are, as well, versions made to look like he show),
The only one I preordered so far is prime, since it is really show accurate, broken windows and green windows instead of blue

To be fair, these are $5 and $10 more than the regular releases in Japan.
I understand where you’re coming from as a western consumer, but TT isn’t charging an extra $20 for the premium paint.

Welp as nutty as I am for seekers I may very well actually skip this one; it really is too similar to the standard one. Magnus so far feels like the most worth it figure in the line.

I hear ya man. I love having a fleet of them, but the Sparkless Seeker was the first one I had Buyer’s Remorse from.
After I get my Shattered Glass Starscream I think I’ll retire my seeker purchasing. At least with this mold.

It looks like they took the first release, tied it on a string to a kids bike, and told the kid to ride around the block.

Can't say I have remorse from sparkless seeker (actually still hoping I get one cuz apparently it's backordered now) but it was definitely a bit of a head tilt. This one was already on a thin line though just for already being kinda redundant. It kinda makes me miss how the classics mold was; as overused as it was even the four different versions of regular Starscream were so noticeably different that having any combination of them was (IS really) cool to look at.
It actually makes me think back to how Hasbro did the animation look for Megatron and Optimus and how more interesting that would have been on Starscream than this is.
