man, i applied future on the shoulder joints and they’re holding up just fine, but i haven’t been able to tighten up the forearm panels. i’ll give it another shot this weekend with some future, but this upgrade set is really tempting. it’s just spending ~$30 shipped for a kit that costs probably more than the figure itself right now stings a little, lol
I just got both DNA Kits for Ironhide. I have not been able to find any available in the last, maybe year or so. Probably the only kits I have wanted for any of my movie figures so I am so glad you posted about this or I would have missed it entirely since I just gave up the hunt for it recently. Lol I do know that the demand for the kits seemed a lot more apparent (I even reached out to DNA designs and asked for a reissue) when Ross had this item for $25. I'm actually kind of surprised that also reissued the SS set as well. But I suppose when the SS figure was going for $100 online, anyone spending that money would want to go all in. Haha
Especially if you found a discounted one at Ross, but it sucks when a $130 masterpiece figure requires a $30 upgrade just to make it function properly. I got the Studio Series one cuz it enhances the figure not fixed it like the MP one.
Wait, so is this a legit preorder? I heard some negative things regarding DNA's preorder history. Really looking forward to the upgrade kit.
I feel the same. I don't mind the shoulders and worry that the kit may restrict them too much. But the forearm panels are awful!!!
yea!!! iirc i tried to apply some future in the past and it didn’t hold it in enough, but i’ll try again this weekend to see if i have any success. if not, maybe i’ll bite on this kit. seeing the guns stowed on his back looks pretty damn good too.
Anyone have any commentary on this compared to the Black Mamba KO? Including the upgrade kit, which would you prefer as your definitive Movie Ironhide?
I have both and also have the MPM Upgrade kit for it as well. The BM is much larger than the MP version, so if you have a collection and have other MP's and want to keep it fluid, I would go with the official. But personally, I prefer the BM version. My understanding is that it's basically the same aside from some paint applications, the electronics, and a few tweaks here and there. Literally the only thing I didn't care about the BM version is that the eyes light up, so they look dark and void when the lights aren't on while the MO had painted eyes and stands out. If I had to keep one and get rid of the other, I would keep the Black Mamba.
I love them both, but if I had to choose then I'd go with the BMB one because of scale plus the kibble panels being attached to the shoulder pads instead of the upper arms. I really am glad I have both though. After some modding and paint the MPM is actually still a lot of fun, plus he fits in my smaller bags!
Honestly, I went with BBTS since it's $10 less. I got slightly annoyed I saw Show.Z, who are based in fricking china, get there kits in stock and people receiving it while everywhere but BBTS gets the kit in stock. Looks like TCP has it in stock from the same price, minus however much it cost for shipping of course. Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm keeping my BBTS order just because I've spent too much money lately so if they're a bit late I don't mind, but if I were really fiending for these I'd be pretty mad at how much later they're getting everything in...
^ I just had to jump in and ask- did you guys preorder with BBTS when the preorders went up a couple months ago? Or was this on the next round?
