To tie into the repaint talk: Jetfire would have been cool, but I was really hoping to see this remolded into Machine Wars Starscream (and to a lesser extent Skyquake). Now THAT would have been dope. Hope that can still happen someday.

 

I bought him for the same reason too! He totally screams BLACK SHADOW!!! to me.

 

I also feel that MMC should put a poll out to see what reformatted they should be working on. Or even a crowdfunding like they did for MMC R-50, which I'm so so happy is coming out in 2022.

 

I would get all the repaints. I just wish they did what they did for R-50. Maybe they would be surprised with the overwhelming response. For even if they just had a simple poll posted here or on a site. Just to see.

 

That would’ve been dope to pair with Thunderclash and MW Optimus, I’d be happy to see those regardless of Dia Atlas.

 

I wouldn't be interested in the Dai Atlas version and I wouldn't be interested in a Jetfire version, but a MW Starscream would definitely be bought.

But water under the bridge...?

 

Rezzing an old thread here, but having just bought FP Dai-Z, I'm super bummed this one got cancelled too. Dai Z is adequate, but really shows its age compared another beefier figure like MMC Mors, or even Seraphicus Prominon.

Bananaforce revealed a non transforming Dai Atlas, I really hope that appears!

Well while we're being very sad about one of the coolest mmc toys ever being dead as fuck again here's my old edit of the old render I did back in 2018 where I fixed the color ratio and added more paint to his details which included making sure he had the cool IDW should accents.



So fuckin bummed this thing will never be real. And their are so many cool huge doods we could have used this mold for too. Skyquake, super Starscream, Jetfire etc. I don't think we ever would have had trouble making money from him eventually, especially if his hands got upgraded to pexus level and each version got some cool new weapons.

 

Such a waste... would have gotten every recolor and remolds....

 

Was there a specific reason Boss Penguin decided to cancel it? Surely it couldn’t have been the FP figure.

 

IIRC they said it was mainly due to the Takara Big Powered set, but I wouldn't even consider that competition.

Talk of a Skyquake remold REALLY upsets me dammit!!!!

 

He looks/looked good; but it seems he has a bit of a oldschool Wing/Drift render-thing going on.

Assume if this were to ever be released nowadays, he’d get the same kinda touch-up’s and treatment (with the usual suspects saying they liked the more inaccurate version more lol) they got, before release.

 

I dunno. You put the pexus hands on him and the eris treads, then he goes from "neat but dont need" all the way to "wow this is cool and i want it on my idw shelf"

I know that the Autobot tapes have gone nowhere.

At this point, Im getting ready to sell off the MMC decepticon tapes and go in on "robot paradise" + the new KFCs

 

Takara was part of it, but mostly we'd just sunk a lot of money into the bigger DJD members and couldn't really afford to do another big toy of a C-lister. Dai Atlas is cool, but he's not really a big name that immediately sells. Didn't help that the planned Jetfire repaint was rendered moot by the Siege toy. D-Zef is happening because we already put money into him.

A crowd fund effort might work to gauge interest, except that you know. MAAS Toys fucked everyone over with that.
