I think we’ve heard that the Optimus and Magnus molds are 30% unique, but until we see proper promo images it remains to be seen what’s distinct versus what’s been updated for both versions.

 

I don’t think they’re gonna change much after the painted prototype they showed

 

We haven’t seen the painted prototype of the core Magnus figure from the front (only from the rear on page 24), so I’m just saying that maybe both versions will have the improved crotch that we’re seeing on Optimus.

 

Hope they will delete the poking tabs out of his silver side band for the final release, it would bug me like crazy.

 

Oh well that’s true, but he had the hinges on the legs so I assume the hip is staying the same. But could be wrong

Amazing design. Die cast in such a small scale is great but I hope it won't get loose over time.

Very interesting input. It really makes sense and I had not thought of some of the issues you pointed out with the use of die-cast.

I understand how you feel. It still looks good for me and I will get both this and MS OP

 

I also raised my low opinion of die cast upthread, but to be fair, NA has thus far used it mostly for feet, which have been actually really tight with the crushed pins to the surrounding plastic. I think it's when it is a swinging hinge it would be loose, but I suppose it can be mitigated by good tabs in the surrounding pieces. But yeah, as long as it doesn't snap/crumble like the old g1 stuff.

 

I'll admit I didn't really look at the pics before giving my opinion. Looks like it's mostly internal for transformation joints. Those kind of joints don't necessarily need to be tight since they're only used between modes and they can often use the additional strength of die cast so it's probably actually a good thing in this case.

 

I agree but there has to be other tabs to help maintain the structure transformed apart from the die cast hinges. Because if they become loose, nothing else will keep it together.
