With Grimlock, I can’t wait for the other Dinobots to be released.......I know Slag (I still call him Slag) to be released soon and it will be mine.......

Odds are we’ll see Sludge and maybe Swoop by the end of the year in Studio Series 86.......with Snarl in Generations (Either the tail end of Kingdom or whatever)

Has anyone tried to take apart the dino leg and fix the broken ratchet joint? Mine has this issue, and after looking closely, I think it may be the result of a misfired pin...

Finally fell off the fence, and picked up a Grimlock - hopefully will finally get a complete set of Dinobots. I see Daniel is earmarked for Slag, I wonder who the mini-figures with the others will be? Maybe Sludge will be bigger instead of getting one

From the start, I loved the robot mode, very solid and imposing. Looks a little bit too tall next to Earthrise Prime, who seems much less substantial next to him. But looks really solid, really cool.

Hated the dino mode at first, in pictures and in person. The tail looked very awkward, and the back makes him look like a tubby t-rex rather than a menacing killing machine (after a year of lockdown, I can sympathise!). The dino mode has grown on me though - he looks less awkward to me now than first impressions.

Not a fan of the smoky chestplate, and it doesn't seem to match the character model either. The autobot symbol behind looks cool, shame to hide it.
Definitely could've done without Wheelie - like others have mentioned, would've preferred a sword
The dino chest autobot symbol on mine looks a little messed up, and I can't tell if by accident or design - there's 6 points around the edge where the paint seems to have leaked a bit - but it's so symmetrical, it could be intentional? It reminds me of fraying stickers on old TF figures. I see at least one other set of pictures in this thread that have the same thing.
The robot elbows / dino knees make me a bit uneasy, feels like they're gonna snap instead of unlocking

Despite being annoyed with SS moving away from all Bay toys, I got this guy and he’s a great toy. He’s a great, solid, chunky unit. And I always loved G1 Grimlock all the same. Don’t regret picking him up.

After having this guy in a box for a few weeks I decided to open him and Galvatron yesterday for my birthday.

I turned 44 and I can honestly say this is the Grimlock I have waited nearly 40 years for!

He instantly took me back to when I first started reading the Marvel UK comics with The National Interest story involving the Dinobots, the Decepticons, the news reporter Joy Meadows and the human controlled robot Centurion.

His size compared to other SS 86 and WFC figures, his bulk, his almost perfect representstion of the comic/movie figure, this is the Grimlock from classic stories such as Dinobot Hunt, the two part Wrath of Guardian/Wrath of Grimlock story and the excellent two parter Fallen Angel where Grimlock and his dinos take on a slightly unhinged Galvatron.

In fact, the scale to Galvatron should allow some good scene recreation from that story once we get the rest of the dino's.

Is he 100% perfect? No. As others have said, the chestplate is too dark. I'm not fully gone on the proportions of the lower tail/body in Dino mode. And he should have his sword. Honestly, whoever made the decision not to include the sword was a moron.

But, those small issues aside, he is my favourite of all the SS86 and WFC figures I have got so far - which is a lot of them - and I really can't wait to get his dino buddies along side him.

    So Grimlock, really sweet.
Grimlock is one of my favorite characters in the franchise with his arrogance and strength being my favorite parts, plus doing impressions of him is fun.
My love for the character aside, this figure is awesome! Both of his modes are fantastic, his robot mode is my favorite and the Dino mode is neat! He feels like Grimlock, bulky, powerful and a leader. I want to see what Hasbro does with the rest of the Dinobot cast, and I want to pick up all of them eventually, especially Slag/Slug.

Why is he so rough with all the greebling when the other movie figures are a lot smoother, like Jazz?

It seems like it would be easier to make and more accurate.

I took the stupid plate off. It's another thing that doesn't belong on a movie version.

I did the same thing. People are putting on a clear one but it just seems pointless to me. If it's clear it's like it isn't there so.....

PSA on SS86 Grimlock. Luckily I was able to work out a trade w/another boardmember for a replacement. But, watch out for yours. The blue red, and green paint on the legs isn't sealed on mine and just scrapes right off with the slightest touch:

I recommend this stuff for color matching gold paint. You can apply it directly with the marker, but I prefer squirting out a little paint and using a toothpick to apply it. Allow for a day to dry, but once it does, other than being a little shinier, it's nearly indistinguishable from the factory applied gold paint. The silver paint marker of the same brand also very closely matches the factory applied silver paint used on most, if not all the figures.

Anyone got any ideas what this silver-ish.... grey-ish plastic could paint match with? As I would love to paint the back white parts to hide them some.

I just did a chrome silver spray paint and then used an extreme lacquer spray to seal it, did the same with the dino arms and about a year later it still holds up with no scratches after multiple transformations, the Chrome looks really good
