This movie and Wonder Woman 1 are probably my favorite DCU films. Loved the fact hat Ratcatcher II is a portuguese native too.
Watched earlier this morning around 2 (Thank you Insomnia) and went into it expecting it to suck. Let's just say I saw SS1 and hated it then on BOP I actually couldn't finish it after like 3 attempts so I went into this movie expecting the worst again but OMG JUST LIKE MCDONALD'S: IM LOVING IT.! THANK YOU JAMES GUNN!
Just started watching it. Hoping Blackguard isn't around long so they can stop saying his name wrong. Suppose to be pronounced Blaggard.
I don't have her criticisms of this movie ... but I thought it was a good movie, but not as good as Gunn's GOTG movies. I can't put my finger on it though, I liked every scene, but the movie just felt a little long to me. I don't know if that was because I was bored or if it actually should have been edited down some? Too much story to try to fit in one movie, maybe, who knows? Even though you would think Suicide Squad should be a hard R movie, I'm wondering how successful it can do at box office? Maybe Marvel putting the reigns on Gunn is a good thing? I want DC movies to succeed, I'm just wondering if Gunn free to do his thing is something the general audience wants to see in further DC movies outside of Suicide Squad? These movies should be doing over 500 million. You need to catch a wide net to make that happen.
This is how I feel about the movie. Overall yes top 3 for sure. One of the very very few great DCEU movies. Spoiler Wow so many dead. I was expecting a lot to die but not within the first 10 minutes. I wish Captain Boomerang didn’t die so quickly. I think he was under utilized in the first and obviously more under utilized in this film. The second I saw Flag fight Peacemaker I knew he was dead. I think knowing about the Peacemaker tv series hurts the film. I just knew Peacemaker wasn’t really going to die. I didn’t want to see Ratcatcher, Sebastian and King Shark die and I’m glad they all lived. They were all amazing.
I don't know how I feel about this movie, it wasn't bad, but wasn't as good as his first GOTG. I like the moments where they all got along and had fun at the bar...and yeah too many dead without a fight and they are supposed to be super villians? Such a waste for most of them. King Shark and Sebastian rocks though. It's up to Shang Chi, Eternals and Spiderman to wow me but I didn't really like the other Disney Spiderman movie cause he can't do shit on his own like the other Sony ones.
Just finished, I thought it was great and what it was exactly suppose to be. A fun, unhinged, guns blazing ride. First off, for the reason I stated before and other reasons, I'm glad Blackguard was the first to die. Gunn handled these characters pretty well minus the opening beach scene. Felt like we could've done 5 minutes more of just seeing the others actually be useful, but hey thats the joke. Shame about Boomerang though, he was the only one besides Harley, Deadshot and Flag to actually have potential. He would have been fun to have for the rest of the ride. King Shark and Ratcatcher 2 were a delight and I'm so happy the movie wasn't brought down by the death of either. Though I gotta say I think Gunn really caught the "beauty" of what Ratcatcher is all about and why I dig the Batman villain. Also, I think this is the first time Starro was depicted as sympathic, that last line had weight to it. I agree with the Peacemaker show taking the air out of that after credits scene. Speakign of which, I'm glad Weasel is alive hah. I can't swim either so that opening situation got me. If there is a third one, I can't wait to see who and what they can do with it, but after GotG 3 it sounds like Gunn is done with superhero movies stating he's bored with them. Who knows.
Just saw it 8/10 great movie. I liked it more than I thought I would good soundtrack, enjoyed the gore, and liked the characters. I wish we saw more of Weasel and some of the other characters such as Captian Boomerang and Michael Rooker. But I like our main group a lot Margot Robbie still doing good as Harley for me. I liked Rick Flagg more this time around in the first one he kind of seemed like the generic soldier guy in this I feel he had more character. Ratcatcher 2 is the one I liked the most out of the group I also liked Bloodsport more than Deadshot. I like Will Smith but to me, Deadshot did feel like he was only good because Will Smith played him. I am interested in seeing the Peacemaker show since I did like his character curious to see how that will play out. I think the only negative things I can say are I wish certain characters got more screen time and I didn't find the main villains too interesting. I like Starro I think Starro was done well he was different than the typical Starro in terms of motive but I still liked what was done with him. If you count Waller as a main villain and a certain member of the squad again done well. But the other villains the Thinker, generals, and presidents I didn't really care about I had the same feelings about them that I had about enchantress and her brother. I also liked the Thinker more in The Flash which surprised me season 4 is not a season I liked but I did like the first half of that season with the way the Thinker looked and the actor who played him before all that body-hopping and power stealing. overall really enjoyed the movie pretty a fun time watching it. Also, I am not a comic expert but I have noticed that a lot of movies hero movies that James Gunn has worked on has a villain with a the title Starro The conquer Ronan The Accuser Ego The Living Planet since he was in GOTG Thanos The Mad Titan Just something that I was thinking of that I thought was kind of funny
I enjoyed it, just finished my second viewing last night to catch any details I may have missed. Bloodsport and Peacemaker trying to one up each other while rescuing Flagg gave me a good chuckle.
The jungle scene didn't do it for me cause when the rebels were getting killed and grunting no one heard a peep when it was dead silent? That seemed more unrealistic to me than King Shark lol
Spoiler That anyone actually survived Starro (especially Harley after running through a largely destroyed city and ultimately ending up inside an eye full of goo without suffocating or drowning) is more unrealistic than King Shark
I'm not a big DC guy and definitely not a big DCCU guy, but I really enjoyed this film. It had a lot of dark humour, which is right up my alley. Didn't know about the upcoming series so I was pleased with the end credits scene. Probably going to go see it again. Totally okay with King Shark being DC's Groot.
Yeah I kinda got bored with the first one. But since I have nothing else to do today, I'm going to go ahead and give this a whirl.
I enjoyed this movie. Certainly was more compelling to me than the first film. Maybe I'm too familiar with Gunn's work but I wasn't surprised by any of the "gotcha" moments. I really like the first movie on paper but the finished product just didn't work for me. I think one of the reasons is that movie is defined by its comic book roots more than appealing characterization while this movie is defined by its characters who simply happen to be from comic books.
