I ADORE the toy, so this is an easy call for me. I ONLY wish they had an alternate transformation for the undocumented leg configuration for the Autobot mode (which is my preferred look; the "Dorf on Golf" look)

 

Yep, this convinced me which to get.

 

This is definitely the best P/CP figure I've seen in both robot modes and alt.mode. With that being said, I don't know why there is a need to do American vs Japanese version other than to squeeze the extra wallet from collectors. To me, just include a swappable head would've sufficed the difference between the U.S vs. Japanese version. The chest different between the 2 version is too nitpicky for me.

 

Out of all their recent releases, they finally have my attention again.

 

Runamuck and Runabout, Now Punch and Counterpunch. Please reveal Hotspot, Blades and First Aid next XTB 

 

The arms are different too, tho... and since we don't know how the head works yet, we don't even know if a swappable head would be practical.

 

Honestly, I’m surprised it took this long for someone to cook up a third-party Punch/Counterpunch. I always felt like it was a no-brainer.

Too bad I haven’t the space or finances for a Masterpiece sized figure, though...

 

Oh yes, XTB this is what we want new refreshing MP characters I will be getting two of these love this character.

keep doing this XTB/KFC create characters that have not been MP.

 

Can't help wondering what the back looks like and
how well it hides the alternate robot mode.

The mess of sculpt changes is interesting.  I pity the collector who likes one Punch and another\'s Counterpunch.

 

This guy and the Battlechargers look promising, but there is no way I’d preorder an X-Transbots figure after the Kup debacle. Gotta wait for in-hand reviews first.

 

Really disappointing that they seem to be mostly going with the same old lazy "one robot mode is mostly just the backside of the other" transformation scheme.

Punch/Counterpunch isn't a character I have much investment in (though "Transformers '84" did heroic work), but I've always thought it was a sweet toy concept, so I'd be in for a version that had super interesting/fun engineering to get from one robot mode to the other. But seeing that yellow chin on the back of Counterpunch's head just takes me right out of it. Come on. this is a Masterpiece toy in 2021. We can't even have a head swap step?

 

Even with XTB's odd track record in QC as of late,

seeing as this guy is only as complicated as Skids, I am very excited to get Counch/Puntercounch.

 

After browsing back and forth, I really think the Japanese for me is the way to go. The American one just seems to have less detail and I really can't remember the face on my old G1 so any one of them will really work for me.

 

Why? It's only money.   

 

Um they give us pics of both sides!   It looks like you'll just turn him round, swivel the wrist base to swap between the different coloured hands I'm guessing (doesn't look to have two full sets of arms like the G1 toy), and flip out the shoulders and you're done. I'm hoping they at least also have the top of head swivel gimmick of the G1 toy that covers the eyes you aren't using. Would be nice if there's some feet transforming but it might just have bits sticking out both sides, so it's like toes and heel spurs both modes.

Could be wrong - maybe they are doing more to hide the obvious front of the Autobot on the back of the Con, and vise versa, but I'm not expecting much.

 

The toy had the Japanese faces but the American heads.


Meanwhile The Rebirth had his Autobot side with the toy face plate, but it was squished flat with a mouth over without removing the details.


And he was even drawn with the face plate and/or his mouth fazing in and out of existence.

 

I just want to see how they hide the other face and i'd like a profile shot to see how skinny it/they might be.

 

I'm torn myself, prefer the American punch head and the Japanese counterpunch head but I don't want to have to buy two lol
