The torso bot is not needed at all. And they are action figures, look at Zeta's Superion, most of it is fake, the whole torso and lower body is a huge partsforming piece, it's lame, sorry, the end result may look good and be stable but it's mostly fake.

But if you like it you win as said before.

Edit: Again, it is not a personal attack to anyone, it is a valid criticism to a combining method that is overly simplistic for a masterpiece...

My favorite G1 MPs bots are the KFC Horrorcons, I love them to death, but the engineering is quite dated for today standards, the transformation works and they are very sturdy, but that doesn't mean that they state of the art bots, so I won't be upset if anyone says that they are dated or simple.

I don't care about Voltron too much, but that thing is very impressive, I want it, but $700 is quite expensive.

It is except for Superion, that's still a majority.
The torso and thighs for Superion while the others are thighs and/or abs. You still need all the limb bots and for Constructor and Bruticon the torso bots.
Go ahead and try to use none of the limb bots see what happens.
All of them are fake, ever attempted is fake unless they also have stuff detailed interiors and working engines. If they're bots that need to connect to make a bigger robot, they need to connect. Like it or not. And I'd gladly take "fake" but stable and still needs to combine any day.

Just look at this guy, just take Primal, replace it with thigh pieces and it's partsforming just like Constructor (and ignoring the fact every combiner partsforms i.e. hands and feet).
Whether or not having the thighs transform into another robot will make this guy stable or not is to be determined.

Armageddon use the whole torso and thighs, the only functional part that Onslaught does is to provide the combiner ports, and maybe that was on purpose to try to make him a bit useful.

Constructor use a lot of separate pieces to make it look good... Ab fillers, forearms, head, waist, thighs and chest plate, remove all of that and nothing will really resemble a part of combiner.

Nobody is questioning that combiners should or shouldn't partsform, just questioning about them pantsforming.

And that's your preference and it's ok. But what most pantsformers' limbs and core bot really do is attach to an existing frame rather than truly combining.

    That... is combining.
That's the definition of it. A bunch of smaller bots forming a bigger bot.

You are describing a true combiner not a pantsforming combiner.

Partsforming combiner: A bunch of smaller bots and accessories that attach to a combiner frame (the size of the frame goes from the waist and thighs to a whole body frame) to complete a giant robot.

The term "all-in" to me means the limb bots have the hands and feet as part of the robot. I think what you described can be placed in the team "parts-forming" category.

Yeah, "all in" is not really what they are, maybe "all integrated" (all parts play a significant purpose in the other modes) I think works best to describe Thunderking.

For $700 I was kinda expecting each lions to be able to tranform into their own robots, lol. Voltron seems like the only figure that gets milked to death by multiple companies trying to one up each other :D

I don't know why it's sooooo expensive, it has diecast (which I believe is more expensive than plastic for the most part), LEDs, ratchets and some cool gimmicks...

I think $700 is tooo much, $400 - $500 sounds fair for what it is.

Also real quick as far as price the bandai are around 400 maybe more, they are only 11.5 inch so 16 inch is quite a bit bigger

    Last off-topic Voltron post

AFAIK this was made for USA using footage from both GoLion and Dairugger, which is why you don't really see both onscreen as often as you'd remember. And when they do the animation is all janky :D
