That and Motormaster is probably based on his sacred '80s likeness.

All this talk of micromasters just makes me sad we never got Oiler & Slide.

While Core is the new $10 class, it would be nice to see some micromasters pop up there every now & then; give us more cassettes at least.

Personally I'd like to see certain miromasters released as regular sized figures.

Loving how IDW has ditched the micro part of their characters.

regular sized Mudslinger, Battle Patrol team, Roughstuff - yes please.

That's actually canon, at least as much as Cybertronian Sideswipe or Ironhide was before Siege. The Micromasters were normal-sized Cybertronians before, then volunteered for an "upgrade" that would make them more fuel-efficient - by downsizing their bodies to human-size. So if Hasbro can release never-before-seen Cybertronian modes for classic characters in the WFCT, they can do the same for the characters that eventually became MMs.

No, it's cause Micromasters aren't interesting in any way. They're just normal transformers but smaller, weaker, and with less personality. Even the most boring normal Transformers have cool designs. Just look at Sideswipe. As for other gimmicks that involve smaller bots, such as Head, Target, and Powermasters, they at least interact with normal bots in some way. Micromasters don't really *do* anything that any other Transformer can't, except be really small. That's why there's so little interest in them, not just muh geewunners.

    That sounds pretty subjective there.

You know who else is smaller and weaker than other Transformers? Most beast Wars & Beast Machines characters. The larger ones might reach the sizes of smaller "normal"-sized TFs, but the vast majority of them are small and weak, and they're extremely popular.

There's nothing wrong with Micromasters. As @SG Roadbuster said, they probably just need a cartoon or anime tied to them to get their popularity up. But even that isn't even a reasonable argument as to why they don't sell. There were many micro toys since the '80s that sold extremely well. Micro Machines, Polly Pocket, Mighty Max, Littlest Pet Shop, M.U.S.C.L.E. men, Battle Beasts, Z-Bots, and many, many more. Most of them not even relying on a cartoon for toy sales. Hell, some of them even made various a comebacks in the past decade, including Micro Machines being currently on the shelves again. Including playsets.

No, it's all on Hasbro for not making the Micromasters up to snuff with the other Transformers. And it's not unreasonable to predict them trying Micromasters again in a few years. And let's not forget about Minicons.

i fully expect any Minicons we may get to be designed and constructed basically exactly like the WFC Micromasters

Basically how I feel; the only Micromasters I bought were the military & planes from wave 1 and that was it, because they had cool weapon modes. I almost bought the space shuttle, but I changed my mind.
Except that Beast Wars had a show AND they had more personality than the Micromasters. And all those toys you mentioned, are small, static figures. Micromasters have to actually transform, and they were $10 and sold in 2-packs.

I know it's a "joke" (using that loosely here) but people have to think about the budget and resources that go into these figures. The Micromasters were small, and they had to transform, you can only do so much compared to a non-poseable, 1-inch tall MUSCLE figure. Also the MUSCLE revival went poorly too; they sold like crap which is why they haven't made them in years. And most of those toylines you mentioned stopped existing after the '90s because they wouldn't do well in today's market.

I can think of, like, 10 Micromasters that have cooler designs than Sideswipe. Sideswipe has an extremely basic design.

They had a show, sure. More personality? That's debatable.

Let's get the Micromasters a show then. That's brilliant, thanks for the suggestion. =p

Yes, and that's the problem. Well, one of them.

*glances at DotM/TF Prime Cyberverse figures*

Like, they were a thing. Just make them a tad shorter, give them a couple more points of articulation and we'd be good. Damn, why are people acting like well-articulated micros with accessories that far-fetched?

Let me give it a shot then. From my own memory, HD files, and bits from TF Wiki:

1: Ground Hog, the Race Track Patrol's medic. Steals parts from Autobots to repair his teammates.

2: Overload, a former battlefield tactician that was demoted to transport duties, but often ignores them and goes into battle anyway.

3: Pipeline is an introverted pacifist partnered with Gusher, who is the outgoing dudebro compliment to him.

4: Airwave, a Decepticon smuggler and former airbase inspector, he's the con's hook-up for black market dealings.

5: Growl, the maniac of the Military Patrol, who just likes killing, but goes along with other Decepticon-y things to try not looking weak.

6: Sunrunner is a Battle Patrol strategist who thinks of himself as superior to Cybertronians without flying modes. Often argues with Flak.

7: Roadhandler, the Race Car Patrol's leader and Blackjack's rival. Sometimes dabbles in professional wrestling.

8: Flattop, a Decepticon loner who just spends his time looking for targets to shoot at, or just fantasizes about it. He can use his carrier component as a drone to strafe targets from behind.

9: Hubs is the standard rebellious teenager who looks up to teammate Trip-Up and is friends with Motorhead.

10: Blackout is an inspirational pep-talker, but a wimp that only goes into battle because he's one half of his and Spaceshot's combined alt mode.

11: Slow Poke... he's kinda just a mini-Huffer. But still more interesting than Sideswipe because of it.

12: Direct-Hit is the leader of the Battle Squad that tricks his team into thinking he has plans, but he's a "no plans, just act" type that just got promoted beyond his actual skill level.

13: Highjump is the infiltrator of the Off Road Patrol and the most likely to ignore plans and rules to do his own thing, but gets along with his leader pretty well.

14: Crumble: He does a lot of this shit and accidentally destroys the stuff he builds. Pretty angst-y too.

15: And my favorite, Storm Cloud. He's a skilled hacker and electronics warfare expert who uses long-distance EM disruption. He's not good at words.

Oh wait, was it only supposed to be 10? :lol

Some of them admittedly are pretty weird. Knockout(the original Knockout) for instance is loyal and enthusiastic, but faints when that enthusiasm overloads himself. Or Tracer, who is just the Military Patrol's aerial scout and actually works hard to get promoted instead of wanting to kill his leader. And... Stakeout. I think he's just there. He turns into a police car from Robocop though, so there's that. But in response to @CeramicPigs, they most certainly have personality. It's a shame that their personalities are going to waste too. Compare those to Sideswipe, who is reckless but wants to help people and that's mostly it.

    And remember:
    Roadhandleruk.jpg

Edit: Oh, @BombSquad said design. Well I'm half asleep, so take what I gave you. *goes to bed*

Another problem id like to point out that may be why Micromasters sold so poorly. And this also applies to Battlemasters and Core class.

    Not enough variety.
Deluxes come 8 to a case. And are usually 2 copies of 4 characters each.
2 people buy one of each and that case is gone.

Micromasters on the other hand were also 8 per case. But only had 2 2-packs per wave.
The same people who bought those 4 deluxes each earlier buy one of each of the micros. And half the case is left rotting on the shelf

    The other problem was quality
Material science has changed. They use cheaper plastic now, their designs were writing checks that the plastic couldn't cash. If they ever do them again, they need to be bigger and maybe Rubber. Like the plastic used on Origins Bee's Kibble.

Love this, couldnt tell you anything about the micromaster characters but they were what i grew up with, the age when i came into transformers was when they were just coming out, so my collection consisted mostly of these. For that reason they always hold a special place in my heart, especially the bases and micromaster transports. That being said I am a little disappointed in the hasbro releases as my favourites seem to be either from from the missing two of each team - e.g. Seawatch, Sunrunner, Tote, Detour; or from teams not made at all e.g. Neutro, Overload, Eagle Eye and Blazemaster. Ones i loved that we did get - Highjump and Swindler sadly didnt match their original designs in robot mode. To be fair the rest of them were ok I personally thought, just sour grapes on my part.

Am I getting this wrong or are people seriously saying that Micromasters have more personality than Beast Wars characters?

I'll be honest, up until now I thought the micromasters had as much personality as the background armada minicons, if that

I got a couple sets of micromasters as a kid right before I stopped getting toys. They were cool, but I felt less affection for them so I really didn't get many of the Siege/ER ones until I stumbled on them at Ollies. They are a lot of fun, IF you keep expectations low. (Helps I paid half price, too.) Went back and bought 2 of the GO multipacks on Prime Day one as is and one to use as "creative" repaints to finish teams. They work great to fill in around display shelves. So, yeah, they have a purpose and can be fun if you use them in a way that suits you.
Also, Hasbro really should make core BW figures to interact with G1. That would be fun.
The Astro Squad shuttle was well worth it. A lot of fun. I picked it up cause, you know, space shuttle obviously, and it convinced me a few weeks later to buy the rest at Ollies. It's hands down the best micromaster.

Why's everyone hating on Sideswipe? :p  He was my first Transformer. He had everything I was looking for.
    1. Red.
    2. Lamborghini.

You notice personality was not on the list. ;)
Seriously, though, the G1 cartoon didn't exactly do character building, nor Bayverse, so unless you read the comics (Marvel and IDW) I get everyone's point. RiD 2015 was probably the best take on a Sideswipe by making him a jock with a good heart.
