Yeah it's pretty amazing. I mean rendering this good or better of course exits - e.g. movies - but I've never seen it used in this way before - a virtual promo photo shoot for a plastic toy that looks real. No wonder the poses look so good, lol! The materials and lighting are almost totally convincing. Only the wobbliness through the window looks a bit fake and overdone. Heck there's even some texture on the ends of pins and rivets! It's only the geometry and fit and finish that give it away - just too perfect. The real thing, moulded, painted and assembled can never look that good, as I showed with a closeup pic of arcee a few pages up.
I totally buy it! It is really weird the site pulled the skids proto pics, but not CJ. Why the hell would that be??? I wonder if we'll see this more as standard? I mean if they can render the CAD models this convincingly why not? Saves messing around with a wobbly hand painted prototype, paying a photographer, all the mistransformations and crap poses! The upgrade in quality of posing is immediately obvious. I just want them to make the granite backdrop part of the scene rather than pasting them on unconvincingly! Not MP without the granite. If I could be bothered to do it for my Starscream model, they damn well can too! Wooooooaaaah - maybe I gave them the idea of virtual photo shoots?! Yup, I'm convinced! That's what I'm believing!
i really want nightbird and a couple extra of those swords but i dont have neither the money to order her right now nor i live close enough to the US to it be worth the shipping price but damn im sad reading about how many people dont care about those swords, there are so many molds that could look great with them
You could have my swords, man. Pretty sure I'll never ever ever use them. (Cos if it didn't happen in the cartoon it didn't happen. Geewun forever!!)
Probably wont cost me much to stick them in a slow envelope and hope they get there! I'll drop you a PM when I get it.
Ikea does this with their furniture shots, and Lego often has shots for their store. The software isn't the important thing, it's the person modelling and texturing it. Plus the quality of any procedural textures/materials and lighting you use. The renderer can be standalone and has strong impact on the image quality.
Would there be any particular reason mine hasn't gone down when it has for everyone else? I've noticed my Skids and Reboost orders are still showing a higher price than the current listing prices as well.
My total with shipping and everything is more similar to yours, around 15 000. Is there some UK tax included in the main figure cost or something?
I recommend keeping screenshots that show the date and price. It should catch up, but their system isn’t perfect. I’ve had it happen once or twice where it didn’t go down to the lowest price. When it got released I contacted customer support and presented them with the evidence. They honored the price and gave me a partial refund.
The ‘us vs them’ words really gives official only buyers a bad name. Nothing wrong with wanting a massive Fort Max. Especially when you got the green to flash around like a TF superstar
Yes - Amazon now includes local taxes in the item price. Mine shows 12773 yen. If you subtract the 10.25% sales tax where I live in California, it drops to 11,586 yen. So you’re likely being charged around the same 11,586, plus whatever your local taxes are.
