I'm not a huge game collector, but aren't these things always way rougher in person? Like they could probably make a detailed foot tall statue with those renders haha.
Not when it comes to RPG minis. They're usually pretty detailed. All of my D&D minis and my minis from old board games like the original Hero Quest, Dragon Strike, and Dark World are pretty detailed. They aren't like the kind of cheap minis you get with $5 kiddie games. That's why there's so much appeal to painting them and why some are willing to pay good money to others to paint it for them sp they don't fuck it up.
Oh ok, that's cool. I have the Star Wars Imperial Assault game and I liked the minis, but when I painted them I had to spend a lot of time cutting off excess plastic from the mold seam and stuff to get them looking nice.
I just learned about this! This game is one of my holy grails from childhood. I see that funding is already complete so what happens now? Can I still get on board some how?
No, unfortunately, you can't get this version of it now. There is some talk and has been since the project started moving into stretch goals that it did well enough that they are planning a mass retail version of the release. However, it's going to be based on the $99.99 option and will still be missing a few things included in that as they were marked as exclusive to HasLab. Of course, there's still no definitive answer if a retail release is going to happen at this point. About the only option that you have right now is finding someone who ordered extras around this time next year when production is done and they start shipping to people. Though I can't imagine you not having to pay a hefty markup at that point.
Ooh, production update! Hasbro released test shot images of the Barbarian and Gargoyle, plus the dice. Colors aren't final on these.
Just got this email myself. The figures appear to be coming along nicely. The dice are pretty much what one would expect them to be. My wife never played this so it's going to be interesting showing her how much simpler it is than our D&D campaigns.
It looks like HeroQuest will be getting a retail release for those who missed out on the crowdfunding. Here's a listing from a Finnish store. Seems like it'll run 156 Euro. What's that, about $190? I can't tell for sure what all's included; it may just be the base game without expansions. Due in February of next year. I guess the backers come out ahead here - we get it first, less expensively, with the perks. Nice. Even so, I'm glad other people will be able to buy into it later. It also means there's hope that Hasbro will eventually sell the expansions we didn't unlock. Here's hoping for Joe's dragon quest! Hero Quest (new edition)
Yeah, this was speculated that there would eventually be a retail version. I think I paid around $180 after shipping and got all the upgrades of the Mythic Tier through HasLab. Nice to see a semi-confirmation that there will be a retail version as was speculated though. Especially if it means that the stuff that didn't unlock will be made available at some point not to mention other expansions later that we can get in a year or so after release when we've played through all the content provided via the crowdfunded version.
I got a surprise email about an app to be released with the Haslab game that plays as the dungeon master! Sounds cool!
If it works yeah. That said I love being the DM since, even when you're playing something prefabricated, you can change things up on the fly to be more challenging or more interesting if necessary.
Yeah as someone who almost never gets together to play games, the app allowing for solo play is awesome.
I am very confused by this phone app. Is it to keep track of your stats like what Gloomhaven does? Or does it let you play the game online?
From the email: So ti sounds like it plays the opposite side for you, they only mentioned co-op and solo play, nothing about online play. I guess you have to input everything or maybe there'll be a way for it to just use the camera and see where the pieces are and it will play the other side.
How many HeroQuest backers just got an email from Pulse about a delay in the Marvel Legends Eye of Agomotto? Poking around, it seems like a lot of people that have only ever ordered HeroQuest from Pulse just got the same email, saying that the Eye of Agomotto is delayed from late 2021 to January 2022. It sounds like the got the product name wrong, and that HeroQuest will be later than we hoped. Alas. EDIT: They now say "Oops, wrong email sent!" So who knows.
Ooh! Ooh! Update on the stretch goals! ********* Hail and Well Met HeroQuest Backers, We have exciting news and some updates for you today, so let's venture forth with haste. THE DRAGON Heroes, tread lightly as new dangers await you! You may recall that one of the Mythic Tier stretch goals during the HeroQuest campaign was an exclusive adventure – The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness – written by Joe Manganiello, featuring a special Dragon miniature. As a thank you for your continued support of the project, we’ve worked with Joe to include The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness expansion in all Mythic Tier pledges. The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness includes 10 quests, as well as additional tiles, tokens, and the Dragon miniature so that Mythic Tier backers can experience Joe’s full adventure. ********** Yay! That's a heckuva deal! We get the final tier unlock anyway! I thought for sure it would be sold separately as an upgrade, but to just get it included? Sweet!
We are getting the final stretch goal even though the target wasn't hit. I'm so excited. I was truly disappointed when it didn't hit that final goal during backing. I'm pretty hyped for this to get here now
Yep, just saw that email myself. That's petty awesome of them honestly. I expected we'd see it eventually but figured it'd be released as an expansion pack for the retail version at some point. This is really cool. Also, looks like it should be shipping soon too which is great!
