If Hastak is committed to doing every character they can in the unified scale, we may get properly-scaled versions of those eventually. Not any time soon though, probably. Unless Star Saber does VERY well.
I would love a new Ginrai, though I don't mind the LGEX one as it fixes some issues of the retail release, but still, if this does well, maybe even the next set of figures could be JG1 based
Imagine a Titan class Galaxy Shuttle with a Titan class missile base for him to launch from(with a proper Countdown too, hopefully) I have serious hopes for this project, y'all.
Ginrai is probably my favorite character, and I REALLY want to see him re-done. There are just sooooooo many compromises made in order to make the Legends mold or even the Powermaster Prime version work, and the combined God Ginrai is just...not good. God Ginrai is also the same height as Star Saber, so we need him nice and big and chunky.
So, I'm actually wondering something. Do you think they'll put die-cast into this HasLab Star Saber, or do you think they'll not do diecast so that they can perhaps spend more money on other aspects, like join tolerances, articulation, and filled-out plastic? I mean, HasLab Unicron is, unless I'm mistaken, entirely plastic, and he has hollow...I wanna call them side-toes? The parts of his feet that jut out from the side. And I do say this knowing that most collectors with HasLab Unicron do not pose him with the bottom of his feet easily visibile, but...I guess I'm just hoping for a very articulated and well-balanced (in joint tolerances) figure of Star Saber, because I'm hoping to use this figure when I get him in a fan project. Granted I'm using a 3rd Party Star Saber for now, but I do want to get the HasLab Star Saber and use him if he's a very articulated and good figure in both joints and points of articulation. Gotta have many points, and well-calibrated joints, I say.
Diecast would be a mistake, it more often hampers figures in the long run and is a waste of production budget
I can’t think of anything that suggests they’ll use diecast in this. I hope they don’t use it because it seriously interferes with a figure’s long term stability.
I couldn't even tell you the last time Hasbro used die-cast in a new mold. A couple of the Titan Masters exclusive heads, I believe. I doubt Star Saber will have any. The original doesn't.
Diecast is a lost art, but for good reason. Looking back, there's no real value besides "bulk" but Bandai of America tried it with their Legacy Megazords for just that reason and all it ended up doing was creating a bunch of top heavy robots. Diecast requires stronger joints, which means ratchets (At minimum) and if you put it in the wrong spot all you've got a robot that likes to fall over. Which means added cost with no real benefit aside from the false sense of having a "heavy" toy. And since Star Saber will likely also be built with flight stands in mind...you'd create a situation where your cool new wooshy jet can't go on a flight stand without face planting.
I can think of a few good third parties (Fans Hobby!) and Masterpieces (MP-10,22,24,31) that use diecast in the legs/feet to good effect. It's useful for keeping a big bot on his feet in anything other than the basic A stance.
This. Diecast was The Blessing and The Curse of Binaltech. I mean, the only good reason I can think of using diecast is if it functioned as an optional weight on the soles of the feet. For example, if you wanted to do a dynamic running pose with one foot planted on the ground and you didn't want to use a stand, just stick a lump of diecast inside the sole of the grounded foot and it would hold the pose for you. Of course, this is like a super limited use case. Just us a stand for dynamice poses and be done with diecast!
And now we have ankle tilt so dynamic posing becomes much easier, and likely cheaper than throwing a chunk of metal in the toy. But is a major factor in increased shipping costs if you want to buy it and live anywhere other than the country in which it's manufactured. Or make it and want to ship it anywhere that involves air or sea travel.
Clever transformation, though I wish @PrimeVsPrime had compared Ravage to Tigatron in bot and beast modes as well
The transformation is cool. The panther mode is okay but the robot mode is great. The video review has definitely made me more excited for the figure. Instabuy.
Two years from now we're getting delivery of our victory sabers and someone pipes in "hey, remember agent ravage?"
