YT ads. They aren't a pain in the ass usually, but it hets annoying when I try to immerse into a specific time period (like going to the 80s by listening to a playlist of 80s songs) and ads pop up to bring me back to reality for 10 seconds a video.

Spam calls about your supposed car warranty ending. Everyone in New York is getting lit the f*ck up by them. Endlessly.

Is this happening in other states as well?

I'm pretty sure this is going on all over the country. I've never set foot in New York and I've been getting them for at least a few years.

The only "good" thing about it is they usually use "neighbor spoofing" that fakes a number similar to your own (e.g. area code and maybe the next three or so numbers after). Since my phone number is originally from a different state than the one I'm living in now, and the only numbers from the "old" state I should hear from are in my address book, pretty much anytime a number with that particular area code pops up I know it's almost certainly a spam call. And if it's not... well, if it's important they'll probably text or leave a message as follow-up.

Yeah, it's been a regular scam call trying to get personal info from you for some time now. I want to say they started sometime in 2019. At least that's when I started experiencing them and when the news started reporting on it. My phone company (Metro PCS) registers all their spoofed numbers as possible scams so I just used an app that blocks anything that comes up like that.

In the UK at the moment there's a scam about our National Insurance Numbers (I think it's the equivalent of Social Security in the USA) and another from "HMRC" (equivalent of IRS)... as soon as I hear those, I hang up.

On a personal level, though... somewhere along the line a guy I've never met put the wrong phone number on a form somewhere so now every few months I get spam calls (and I think at one point a couple of genuine calls) for him. They've dropped off from their peak a few years ago to only once or twice a year, but it still bugs me beyond belief - my phone number is on a contract directly from the network, so should not have been reissued, so I'm fairly certain the guy just mistyped his number at some point :(

We've actually currently got a scam call here im the US dealing with our SSNs too. You get an automatic message telling you that your SSN has been "locked" due to suspected fraud and that you need to call the IRS immediately at some shady number that 1) isn't the number that called you and 2) isn't a number actually associated with the IRS if you look into it. Most people don't fall for these scams or will deliberately call the number just to play with the scammer, but a lot of elderly folks unfortunately fall for this one and become the victims of real SSN fraud. Honestly it really pisses me off that these loosers that come up with these scams are hard to really catch. Especially since a good chunk of them originate overseas in the Middle East.

When someone consistently blames "misinformation" for their failure to win trust. They don't stop to ask themselves "shit, maybe it's all of those ridiculous things I've been saying and doing." No, it's someone else's fault.

That just screams lack of accountability and the refusal to be held accountable. Typical of a lot of folks these days. It's always someone else's fault, and never their own.

Something else that keeps resurfacing, is the fact that people tend to twist the meaning of words, especially derogatory ones to fit their feelings on the matter. It really just boils down to them not liking what someone said, and reach really hard to justify the use of certain words to shut down a conversation or argument. In short...idiots.

The worst part is how it cheapens the word that they choose to the point that the incredibly bad thing almost loses its gravitas because of the inevitable watering down of their usage.

For me, Its the lack of accountability I see nowadays. Especially in the job and position I am in professionally. People will much rather pass the blame on to something or someone that seems to be an "Easy target" than actually take some freaking accountability and admit they screwed up. It works on my last nerve. Finger pointing is the new way to get ahead and not owning what you did was wrong. It gets me heated just typing about it lol

Did I mention how much I detest the word "based" as whatever the fuck slang term it's being used as?

When I see "based" I think "Oh, so they've glued flock or sand/rocks to the base of the model and it's painted to represent the table it's most played on."
