These aren't an Amalgamation. The Turtles legitimately had the Rangers powers in the crossover comic. Shredder stole the Green Ranger powers from Tommy after he was captured while posing as a Foot Soldier. Foot Tommy is likely to be paired with Raph sense they developed a rivalry during the crossover. Except, you know, he was just Bebop in the comic.
Quality is about the same, but I’m not sure they scale well. I wanted to display the retro Spidey with my lightning figs to reference his Japanese origin, but he’s too tall.
That's interesting. I've never really paid a whole lot of attention to them, honestly. Well, at least not until they revealed the TMNT crossover figures. You'd think they would scale well with other 6" Hasbro figures. I think I'm probably going to pass on them...not quite turtle-y enough for me (insert Dana Carvey meme here ->).
They're cool designs, but it would kinda suck to have just one. That said I'd be pulling for Trini. But if we get Foot Ninja Tommy, I'd definitely try to get at least two. Watch it just be a regular MMPR Green repack or something. Then again, maybe they'd paint the diamonds this time.
Comic based Marvel Legends figures tend to be larger. The slightly smaller MCU figures might scale better, but I don’t know by how much. Comparing Hasbro’s other lines, from Black series to GI Joe Classified and Ghostbusters Plasma series, there’s not a lot of size consistency there between them either.
The issue is that Hasbro's 6" figures aren't all exact 6" scale. Black Series, Lightning Collection, MCU Legends, anything based on live action properties really are all in a straight 6" scale (meaning the average character height is 6") for comic based Marvel Legends tend to be a slightly larger scale with the average character being between 6.25" to 6.5". Hasbro's addressed this before saying they do this for "heroic comic-book proportions" (likewise Mattel used to say the same thing when asked about why there was a height difference between their DCUC comic figures and the Movie Masters line which were slightly shorter). Slight side note, but Classified seems to be somewhere in the middle when I compared Snake-Eyes to figures from the other Hasbro lines. Which I find interesting.
Yeah, but one male body makes like 150 rangers with only the helmets, belts and maybe one other cosmetic change needing to be produced.
If they do more two packs I wouldn't mind getting the ninja designs for the regular five as those were pretty unique looks. You'd have the same issue that you currently have though with who gets packed with the fifth character.
Yea, I'd want all of them if they were to do any of them If Tommy does come with Raph, they could always milk the 2 packs and do 1 ciivlian/ninja ranger packed with a foot ninja, that way troop building is a bit easier
I've noticed this too with several mecha back when i used to collect Sentai. I think they're connection points for planned mecha that eventually were not released.
Especially since most of the Power Rangers (at least in earlier seasons) are supposed to be teenagers, so being slightly shorter is conceptually accurate
Bcuz the comics seem to be at this time more popular than the shows, the Boom amd IDW seems to be making Hasbro (at least in their minds) all the money when it comes to PR. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish In Space or was it Lost Galaxy to make a crossover TMNT 2pk like DCC did for the BatmanXTMNT
If they complete teams then people start checking out and not paying as much attention, slowly releasing teams keeps fence riders engaged and more likely to see things they like outside of the specific teams they are looking for. Also, there are no other versions of this specific iteration of the TMNT that I'm aware of. Hell, there aren't even really any IDW based TMNT figures.
That could get revealed on the Fan Friday, especially if the Raph 2 pack got revealed today and they did the Shredder single release tomorrow. They'd need something to reveal on Friday.
It would be a bummer if they revealed the same things on Friday. Because the ad hinted the crossover. Edit: For some reason, I foreseen a vision of the boxart for Pirantishead.
But completing teams means they can start new teams since they've still got Alien, Turbo, LSR, JF, RPM, SMF, Samurai, etc, that have yet to even get started.
