How much money do you think Rise of the Beasts will make at the box office worldwide and what do you think Paramount will deem as a success?

I have a feeling that Paramount will be optimistically thinking ROTB will do 1 billion, which I think is unlikely and shouldn’t be the goal, IMO.

On around a 200m budget, Revenge of the Fallen made 836m worldwide. This would be a more achievable goal for ROTB, though still seems like a stretch coming off Bumblebee and TLK.

Anywhere from 600m upwards would probably make ROTB a box office success in name, but you have to take into account Paramounts lofty expectations for the Transformers franchise. I would think 600m would still be seen as a disappointing result by the studio. I feel they will at least want to make a 700m worldwide gross.

I think ROTB COULD achieve 700 to 800m, this is a more realistic goal than 1b and should be seen as a success if met.

The other fact to take into account is the consistent drop in the North American box office gross for the Transformers movies since ROTF. They need to turn that around, as if that continues on a downward trend it will hugely affect ROTB chances.

Let me know what you predict ROTB will make at the box office worldwide and what Paramount should be aiming for in terms of box office performance?

I'm betting it will crack at least 250 opening week despite delays, and minor character controversy I think alot of people are ready for another transformers movie.

Especially after Bumblebee brought a good portion of the Audience back to the franchise that left after the dumpster fire that was Tlk

Afterwards I think between 800 and 900 million should be more than possible for this movie.

If it’s good around 700-800 million. The franchise is also making a comeback and maybe people miss giant robots when there’s only superheroes these days.It depends on the marketing also but the movies have always had good marketing.F9 did like 600 million and was pretty bad.

Depends on the state of the world at the time
And how people still feel about going out. Along with enough people finally getting over the bay films and are willing to watch a TF movie again. Optimistically prob around the 500-600 million mark, worst case scenario 300-400 million.

It really depends on how good the movie is. If word gets around after the first couple weeks that it's unwatchable garbage then I can see it doing TLK numbers or maybe slightly better. But if it's good I can easily see it getting 700-800. It's gotta be decent to see decent money.

Are you sure about that? Kingdom did far worse than siege and earthrise, and the feedback on comics are extremely negative.

I care up to the point where it makes enough to justify a sequel, after that I could care less.

Well, you said the franchise is making a comeback, and I disagree. I dont see any way in which the brand is becoming more popular.

I didn’t say the popularity was rising I just meant it’s making a comeback in cinema in a new way.

A big question is how much does it need to make to be considered successful.

I honestly doubt anyone outside the fandom cares about or is even aware of the Mirage VS Jazz crap (assuming that's what you meant by character controversy). I also doubt that enough people are following the development of the film for it being delayed to impact anything.

Did it, though? While Bumblebee was a success in the context of how much was spent on the film VS how much it made, it was still seen by less people, in theaters, than TLK was. I don't think ROTB will be able to rely on the reception of Bumblebee for success, considering that, if I'm not mistaken, ROTB has a much higher budget than BB, so will need to get more people to watch it.

That's a good point. The box office results might only be half the story. If the pandemic is still ongoing, then a lot of people simply won't be willing to watch the film in theaters. In that case, it's success will also be dependent on how many people are willing to sign up to Paramount Plus to watch the film.

The show or the toy line?

At the minimum 600m+. I would think Paramount would be looking for around 700 to 800m.

The thing with Bumblebee is the marketing campaign was really bad, it was coming off the back of TLK, plus it wasn't designed to do the numbers of the previous Transformers movies, but it still earned close to 500m. So with the added Transformers name value, a good marketing campaign and the attraction of this being a big blockbuster movie, they SHOULD be able to improve on Bumblebees performance by adding another 200m at the least for ROTB.

it's hard to tell with how early it is. bumblebee made 468 million so it's safe to say that'll be the lowest likely possibility, appealing to 90's nostalgia, beast wars characters, being a main tf film rather than one focused on bee, and finally the new reputation set by bumblebee(it feels like bumblebee would've sold better but was tainted by the reputation of the bay films and confusion amongst more casual movie goers who weren't sure whether or not it was prequel) are factors that make it likely to sell better

Yep! I think it's not really right to compare to Bumblebee, as that movie was coming off the bad performance of TLK which would've put a lot of potential viewers off. It also had a terrible marketing campaign which didn't do it any favours, despite all that the movie still performed relatively well, all considering.

If the Bumblebee did indeed rectify the bad taste left by the TLK and good marketing is put behind ROTB, it should be able to achieve a significant improvement on the box office numbers.

If word of mouth is good (and said virus is terminated), maybe 500-600 million dollars, i still feel the franchises still has some healing to do before we can back to DOTM-AOE numbers
