My reasons to not be hype: 1. Teasing a year and a half (minimum) out with nothing of substance but the license 2. Nothing to indicate what type of game it is 3. Teyon. They're the devs of Terminator: Resistance, a game that wasn't particularly well received. A quick look into games they've made and nothing else stands out as good/anything I've heard of I'll keep a loose eye on it cause it's Robocop and there's definitely potential to be had with a video game, but the optimism ain't here.
1. Could be a Summer game or possibly a Fall release for the holidays. 2. My guess? Could be a first or third person shooter. 3. That's not reinsuring. Could fantastically bomb. I was expecting more from that trailer. Could have easily worked as a new movie than a game. Stupid me.
I'll be keeping an eye on this despite my distain for anything Robocop that isn't the original movie. Terminator Resistance is a decent mid budget game and did a much better job of recreating the atmosphere of the first two movies then anything else ever has.
Looking forward to this, I think. Cautiously optimistic since Weller is involved. Same company is also doing an open-world survival Terminator game. Concept sounds interesting
The gameplay looks very generic and repetive, which sucks because IMO I feel a RoboCop game has a lot of potential. I feel if those was one of those detective games that focuses more on story and character it would have been awesome.
So it's basically first person camera angle only. Other camera angles would make it more interesting.
Well that’s the thing: Robocop isn’t a detective. A couple of archive searches and one presumably fast interrogation aside, he spends most of his time as a sort one man SWAT squad. But simply making an FPS out of the brand IS hugely wasteful. On that I agree.
Depends on what kind of FPS, is it house of the dead type or Doom type? If it's house of the dead, then yeah it's a waste.
Actually I think a third person shooter would be the preferred style here to allow better use of Robocop’s many technological advantages. But if FPS it must be it should take some inspiration from SWAT 4 with special objectives and methods of mission completion.
