Also it's not possible to remember every tiny detail from a 52 episode cartoon unless you watch it on and on.

I started watching it this morning.
Eh, I'm not seeing the terrible quality many seem to be reporting, but the voice acting isn't that good. Very forced, with Optimus Prime and Megatron being the worst.
I like Airrazor, and Blackarachnia is pretty good as well. Dinobot wasn't bad, and I actually liked his arc.

I try not to nitpick these kinds of things, looking for themes or "adjendas" or whatever, and would rather watch something out of enjoyment. So far it's kind of enjoyable.

A reasonable view to have. Kingdom was decent, not terrible or awesome but decent.

People want to see things that aren't there just to be relevant or whatnot.
Blackarachnia calls Arcee cute. To me that was more of an alpha (fe)male thing than an overture.
Sheesh, stop reading things into stories and just enjoy the show.

I certainly don't think it should be lauded for representation, and 'media' sites are likely just jumping on a headline for clicks.

However, if somebody recognizes a moment of representation in the media they love, they are perfectly entitled to celebrate that.

I know the voice acting has already been torn apart, but it drove me nuts how the guy playing Optimus Prime would pronounce Cybertron like "Cyberchorwan" and Megatron like "Megachorwan". Like, a weird drawn out emphasis on Tron. It bothered me more than the constant William Shatner impression.

You're awfully hung up about this, dude.

Pardon my language, but what the hell is an "alpha female" supposed to be? And again, Mae Catt EXPLICITLY SAID that she wrote Blackarachnia to be gay. People aren't reading into it too much, they're noticing what she intended. And even if they were, what does that matter? People deserve to see themselves in characters they like, even if it's incredibly minor. That counts as enjoying the show.

I hadn't been following the discussion (I usually avoid media topics because they tend to annoy me) and didn't realize the writer intended that.

The whole "cute" line I saw as similar to a popular girl talking down to someone not in their circle.
"Oh, she's cute," followed by an exaggerated eye roll.

    That's what I was meaning.

In Blackarachnia’s case, she could be checking her out or looking at dinner, when she calls Arcee cute. :p

I'm probably in the minority here, but I would have found the trilogy as a whole pretty enjoyable if it just had better voice acting. Even Prime Wars was better to some extent, since they talked at a normal pace and got some big names like Cullen and even Mark Hamill.

Yeah even if she is supposed to be written as a lesbian, there's nothing beyond surface level attraction there.

It's representation, but in such a limited format as a six episode miniseries with this big a cast... it's hard to get any value out of it.

It's where the lack of female characters in BW bites them in the ass. They could have written BA as lesbian and put her in a relationship with another female Predacon so they could have had some depth like we saw with Elita/Prime.

Hell, you could have written her and Airazor as having been in a previous relationship, and that "my hero" moment was something of a reconciliation. Put some conflict between them driven by that past.

    Ooh plot twist!
AirRazor & Blackarachnia were a couple back on Cybertron, but then they crashed on Earth & BA got reprogrammed by Tarry.

Better still- AirRazor killed Tarantulus for revenge, but it’s a hollow victory since BA still remains a Predacon. Instant drama.

Taking the role Silverbolt had? Sounds like epic.

But wasn't she shown stealing the disk with Megatron and Dinobot?

Yeah, she was there and I loved that additional backstory. Even in the original BW I felt she was more than just a reprogrammed Maximal. She comes across as a Ada Wong type character to me with a rich backstory of spying and espionage. Her open flirting is an extension of that characterization. It wouldn't be too far off for me if there were stories of her time before Beast Wars where she ran into any other bots and had a fling.

Ok that does it- we’re all officially writing the Nu-BW backstory. Except let’s give the audience some payoff instead of dragging out the Ada shenanigans for 25 years.
