Perhaps two parts on the same hinge.
The Fanstoys solution to allow the cassettes to fit inside, but also the door itself can seperate from the blue to allow for proper posing.

The tapes can be made smaller to accommodate for a smaller door, the cassettes need to be redone too. Especially Ravage

Why are his knees still so damn droopy? He looks fine but just looks like a smoothed out version of MP-13 without enough significant changes to make him more dynamic or alive.

I think they’ll keep the length/width of the cassettes the same but possibly change the thickness of them to get more mass from Ravage and Frumble in particular. Laserbeak is already almost flawless.

They will also probably still allow him to store three cassettes in his chest though, even if they are thicker. Anyway as I said we have a dedicated thread to discuss all this juicy stuff:

Dont really care about the door, I do think AW looks a little to buff for Soundwave . And yes the tapes need a massive overhaul.

Keeping it on Starscream after seeing @chchchch pic, this is the only MP Starscream where they didnt half-@ss his chest. Never realized how bad the chest looked on MP03/11 were.

What parts do you propose keeping? I guess his head is ok, but as-is it doesn't have any side-to-side tilt. I think his proportions need fixing though, and that will change the way joints move, which would change the transformation scheme, so I can't see how it would be worthwhile keeping any parts (aside from his head)

That's my 'god I really hope not'! :)  I like the fact they are the same size as G1 and real microcassettes and also, whilst they are little miracles, they are compromised enough by size and I wouldn't like to see them even smaller!

Yeah, bigger not smaller is the one message TT needs to hear when it comes to the little guys

I think it's articulation will actually be good.
Cause this is an old mold.

Kind of telling when TT and other companies articulation gets better with age while FT's gets worse.

I think it’s proportions are fine. I would rework the chest to add more articulation. Mostly an ab crunch. Maybe fix the upper thighs.

as of changing the whole transformation. I don’t think it’s going to happen to much if they do a complete 2.0. Soundwave is one of those few characters who’s transformation has stayed mostly the same since 84. Others include Prowl, Grimlock and Shockwave.

Also seeing how MP style might be changing back to a blend of toy and cartoon as what we can see in Skids. MP-13 would blend in better with the possible return to form of MP. But that’s one figure. So who knows what Takara is really doing.

The shoulders should be all blue for cartoon accuracy. All the buttons on the waist should be flat. The whole thing should be more of a smooth surface. The feet aren't colored right.

He rarely looked that white to me in the cartoon.

You replied to @Stryder Wolfe but you only reacted to what he wrote about the color. That's the whole point.

Why would I be a fanboy but you wouldn't be? I like TT's products, yes. I think in general they're better than anything third party has to offer. Therefore I'm expecting TT to deliver a better Soundwave figure than those available from third parties. See the negative points mentioned in that first post to which you reacted; I'm quite sure that TT will deal with that.

Yeah it’s pretty ridiculous that having faith in TT when they’re consistently better than 3P companies in design is seen as fanboi-ism.

take Maketoys Meteor. Who in their right mind thought it was acceptable to have forearm gaps that large on the top of his forearms. Or why does FT’s Cliffjumper follow the god-awful trend of having the tops of the thighs at an angle different from the angle of the pelvis (flat would be fine, but why a different angle‽)

The lack of emphasis on attractive articulation, the lack of alternate faces and accessories and the lack of paint would be enough to turn me off from 3P onto TT, but when they make glaring design mistakes I have an even harder time being interested at all.

I can appreciate 3P in the same way I might appreciate an impressive kitbash though. Maketoys Downbeat? Flawless headsculpt (apart from the smiling face — yikes!). But the proportions of his legs, the way his knees look when that joint is engaged, the strange elbow joint placement — dealbreakers.

I take it you aren't a fan of the thighs on MP-36 or MP-47 either, then?

I think the white is the interpretation have come up with on their own. Don’t recall many white walkmans back in 83/84. He’s probably closer to a paler pearlescent like mp-36.

They look fine and don't look like garbage like MS-01 or FT's Cliffjumper :thumb

Okey, now i have a little time to answer to you. And i have clear opinions. At that time, when i wrote my opinion about the color, i didn’t have clear opinions about the poor articulation, the red missiles or the chest door. After i post my opinion about the color, i agreed with ”Stryder Wolfy” about that chest door, that TT Soundwave has a better chest door. And that it’s better way to do that door the way, that it doesn’t ”take” any blue color with it, when it is open.

And now we get to those red missiles. Black missiles would be better, then it would be closer to toon, but it’s not a deal breaker for me, if they end up been red.

I don’t think it has a poor articulation.

    And then that fanboy thing...

Obviously you don’t understand jokes? Or is it that you didn’t want to understand at that moment? It’s fine, let’s not take this too serious. Lots of people use that fanboy line as a joke. If it didn’t work for you, then fine, it didn’t work.

I have notice at this forum, that toy guys can sometimes be really a**hol** to each other. Let’s not go to that road. That kind of behavior is not my style. And don’t get me wrong now, i just try to keep this conversation calm.

If you prefer Takara all the way for each figure and you don’t like third party at all, then it’s fine. I will give a change to every company, which think that they can deliver good quality transformers figures.

I also like Takara figures, but all these years when i have collecting these figures, i have had to admid, that not all Takara figures are the best. In latest releases they have used very bad quality plastic, which is huge thing to me. At the same time for example Mastermind Creations and Fanstoys have used so much better plastic.

But all in all, they all have flaws. There is no the perfect company, which can deliver the perfect figure every time.

I hope you understood what i’m trying to say. I mean, English is not my strongest language.

And this post will probably move to Acoustic Wave thread...Or somewhere else... :D

I’m confused what are we talking about. My biggest gripe with some 3rd party stuff and early MPs is the exposed hi sockets that extend below their “apron” ,drives me batty what’s the purpose of having waist coverage and then make no attempt to cover up the hip joints.

He could possibly just need a retooling vs a full redo to change/update the spots you've pointed out.
