That is rather disingenuous. While I usually don't agree with them, and they were quite hyperbolic, you (and others) are purposely missing their point.

To put it into a more reasonable perspective that you may actually have to respond to: a character doing a complete 180 on personality is a change. Dropping all previous character development to force the plot is a type of change. An established character suddenly becoming incompetent or weak in order to make a new character stand out is a type of change. A show created for children to advertise toys being remade into a grim derp universe in order to make it "adult" is change.

The point is change is neither good nor bad, and to claim that fans should embrace all changes because the show is about transforming robots is just silly.

    ...what?

Lrrr ate a hippie, got a contact high, and started tripping out. His fascination with his hands is about as deep as rhetoric about change (pro tip: not very).

There\'s a certain kind of beauty to the dumpster fire of shallow musings and half-baked, reactionary rhetoric that just refuses to die here. Like...if the Algonquin Round Table had a doppelganger from the mirror dimension, and you sat down to listen for a few minutes...it\'d probably sound a lot like this conversation.

I agree with your point, in fact I've pretty consistently trashed the WFC show and didn't make my comment out of defense for it.

As you said it was just because of how ridiculously over the top the argument was. It's moral grandstanding and making a false dichotomy; either you resist change or you don't care about homeless people or people losing their jobs and whatever other examples were thrown in there. Totally unnecessary especially because you showed how easy it is to actually make an argument.

I never come in to criticize someone's opinion, just the way people make their arguments and conduct themselves in a debate. I would have said the same if someone else came back with "oh you don't like change in the franchise? I bet you want us to go back to the stone age and beat each other with sticks because that's how it used to be".

Imagine how much nicer the forums would be if people put more care into their arguments and treated discussions as discussions and not a chance to just be the big man.

You know what that makes me think of?
The people who are ‘pro change’ and want you to grow up over fictional characters like TF’s, MOTU, or Luke Skywalker also screamed “Not Mah Superman” when Zack Snyder came along.

"The easiest and most popular way of practically refuting... any Fallacy is, by bringing forward a parallel case, where it leads to a manifest absurdity."
    ~Richard Whately

They were not offering a false dilemma, just using hyperbole. The point wasn't that the two were in the same ballpark, but to show that change isn't something that is inherently positive by going to the extremes. I think people tend to use it too much online, where tone is much harder to get, but at the same time, people deliberately avoided responding to the argument put forth to attack the person instead. The examples were absurd because the original argument itself was absurd.

Imagine how much nicer the forum would be if people stopped to consider what the person was arguing, and not just assume malice or stupidity.

Hope this gives me the right to comment on S3 without ever watching it but concerning the argument of not accepting "change". I don't think it is applicable here the same way the first trilogy ( Titans Return etc) did their own take on G1 TF.

I too am not blind on the limitations of the funding. The original series same with BWs had also budgetary limitations. Not too mention other tangential issues.

In an ideal universe, maybe write a good story? And not insult the intelligence of the viewer? In an ideal world.

No show will ever reach the so called you Killed my Childhood crap levels that is always thrown at Bayformers and the recent TF iterations. It makes a good popcorn flick and all.

My childhood memories will always be intact from when I first watched the show 35+ years ago(including the 1986 Movie).

When writers start changing things for the sake of change, we get Ghostbusters 2016.

So I finally took the plunge and watched it with the BF since we had nothing else to do today.

And it was terrible, just like the first two entries. No surprise or shock there I know. Honestly I'm more glad that these things are over and done with so they can just be forgotten like the disposable content they're clearly made to be. Beast Wars deserved better after all this time, TRANSFORMERS as a whole deserves better.

Them trying to honestly do Dinobot's character arc in the span of 6 episodes just made me roll my eyes and cringe.

I feel like most of the issues with this crap show have already been discussed in detail so I'll leave it at that.

All I'll say is that it felt a bit strange seeing the BW cast in 3D once again.

Tarantulas my boy, It's lame that you didn't get a figure in Kingdom but because of that you, Inferno and Terrorsaur made it out of this unscathed.

As they call the Ark "Teletraan" in the show, is it a Power- or Brainmaster now? (Haven't watched the last episode yet)
Because the toy has Teletraan-1(/Mainframe) inside of it and according to the show the Ark is Teletraan-1, so it would be a Brainmaster in concept, just lacking Teletraan-1 being the head of the Ark in bot mode.

He took on the name "Megatron" due to it being a highlight of the quasi-religious Cybertronian text, the "Covenant of Primus", purely to stroke his own inflated ego. Essentially, he just says "this ancient text speaks highly of 'Megatron'. Now I'm Megatron, and thus the book now prophesies my greatness!". It had nothing to do with who G1 Megatron was, or who he was in relation - if at all - to Beast Megatron.

The only direct reverence he ever held for his namesake was because of the genesis of Optimal Optimus. He saw the power that Primal gained by housing Optimus Prime's spark, and he wanted in on the same, from what he hoped G1 Megatron would give him. Again, that still had nothing to do with respecting or revering his predecessor, he just wanted the power for himself.

The show was garbage, like the ones before it. Seeing the beast cast again was nice until they talked. Then the terrible voice acting and poor characterization instantly reminded me these are second rate imposters.

Overall it's the final nail in the generations coffin. Six shows in and each was worse than the last. They tried to be grimdark but failed to have any substance. It's almost like a parody. All the rich lore this franchise has to offer and what we got was half baked rehash with the pacing of a dying snail and the performance of a bunch of people in the office reading lines blind.

At least we got some good figures out of this nonsense.

The only thing that was being addressed was someone made the argument that fans should accept all changes because the characters are transformers. Someone else pointed out how ridiculous that is. You trying to conflate the two different issues is what is bad faith.

Well technically it was 3 episodes :p  I wouldn’t call it strange considering most tf shows are in cg but it was nice seeing them in an updated model even though some look off like Beast Megs.

Jesus who tf cares about the black arachnia and airazor scene, this show has much more glaring problems.
Did anyone find the action just boring as hell?

    I thought Dinobot’s fight against
Soundwave and G1 Megs was great. Anything else was ok.

ehhh not for me. Him stabbing sound wave was cool, but there was no impact from it cos the next time we seem him hes just perfectly fine. If im not mistaken dinobot didn't even use his shield.

Yeah I was disappointed he didn’t use his tail at all. But it was cool that he fought in his beast mode against the tapes and Megs.
