Finally gave up on ever seeing Crankcase and Fulcrum released, so I decided to try it myself. Since I like the rougher war aesthetic of Siege, I took a pair of Refraktors I found at a Walgreens, ordered up some Shapeways heads, and decided to use some Posca paint pens so that they looked "war-weathered." In my head canon, Refraktor body-types are the clerical bots, tying into both the original Reflector bots and Crankcase and Fulcrum's origins. I definitely took some artistic licenses, but I'm happy with them. I will also never repaint another Refraktor!
They look great and clever us of their accessories I guess alt modes don't matter here. Who are the Double Dealer and Smokescreen repaints? They look great, too, and Double Dealer's new paintjob kind of rings a bell but I can't figure out who he is right now.
Thanks! Crankcase and Fulcrum theoretically just copy Refraktor, but the Shapeways head kills Fulcrum's ability to transform. Double Dealer is IDW Roller. A friend of mine gave me an extra and I couldn't decide what to do with him until I was looking through some old MTMTE issues and it clicked. He was a lot of fun. The Smokescreen repaint is a GO Barricade body that I'm working on. I thought it would be cool to copy a VA State Trooper vehicle (especially with all my memories of them from my teens. ) I haven't got the colors quite where I want them though. I'm thinking he's IDW Flatfoot had he joined the Autobots and come to Earth. He never had a proper representation so was clean slate.
Fantastic ideas for Crankcase, Fulcrum and Roller there. I like the nod to Crankcase's G1 function of Data Collector. I love your Needlenose too. I'd love to see your take on Windsweeper as well.
Thanks! Windsweeper is a great idea. He was one of my last toys when I was a kid. I'll see if Hasbro has got a decent mold to play with.
I've considered repainting Cybertron Voyager Starscream as Windsweeper, possibly partswapping with the CHUG Dirge repaint for the wings.
I like it. Thought about POTP Black wing or Cyberbattalion Jetdire since you suggested it as well but I might just go back to the Siege Seeker well!
Thanks! Yeah, still trying to get the paint color right so I've set him aside for now. I decided to work on a Deeseus Drone into Xarron with a new head and Netflix Elita into Nautica (gonna be some creative liberties there) then circle back to the Michael's to see if I can find a better match to State Trooper colors.
My soon to be disowned son just took a look at my shelf and said, "You forgot Nickel." So, what do you guys think, should I use an extra Soundbarrier or Autobot clone for a base or go back to the store?
