Well better a delayed film than a rushed unfinished film.

I had a feeling we'd be hearing something like this.

Like @Nova Maximus said, better they take their time and hopefully it results in a better product.

Maybe it’s for the best? Maybe it will help with quality of the movie.

Damn, I was really hoping for a summer transformers movie again. I feel like they usually perform better in the summer, but oh well.

Also a good chance it's due to the Delta variant.

    In which case fair enough.

bumblebee got delayed due to it be reworked after test audiences, perhaps they're giving themselves time to make changes when they show it to test audiences again?

The fact that this happened in the wake of Snake Eyes proving to be a financial disaster for Paramount really suggests that their financial situation is pretty crap right now. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll even see ROTB or if Paramount is going to actually go bankrupt and in the end, Bumblebee simply delayed the inevitable as opposed to averting it.

Also, that synopsis REALLY does not bode well. "Globetrotting" and the female lead is an artifact researcher? Did we learn fucking nothing from the bayverse? We do NOT need to go galivanting across the planet looking for old shit in place of a plot that actually doesn't involve absurd levels of retcons.

The stench of failure is already beginning and the movie is still 16 months away...if it doesn't get delayed again or outright canceled depending on Paramount.

Bumblebee got delayed almost immediately after The Last Knight in order to strip it of as much of the bayverse connection as possible and because Paramount literally could not afford to simply cancel the film after the investment already made.

Also it's not even that much of a delay, they could've pushed it back to 2023 altogether.

I'm wondering how wise of a move it would be putting this movie in theaters around December.

I don't think it'll be canceled. The movie is too far ahead of production. If the movie is in motion, Paramount is likely to release it as opposed to other production studios. I'm expecting the official word of delay to come very soon. Likely tomorrow.

If Paramount does go out of business, then what?

Maybe they think they can bank on a Star Wars style reception since the sequel trilogy got released in December and did rather well.

Then most likely another movie studio will take over the transformers film rights or Hasbro could go into the movie making business and have more control over the IP. As for ROTB it’s always possible another studio continues where paramount left off. Paramount actually did the same with sonic when Sony abandoned it.

Sounds like they’ve realized they don’t have a summer blockbuster on their hands.

At least it wasn\'t pushed to 2023, which is good.
I can understand why though, we\'ve got a virus situation among us and it\'s still here.
Plus this might probably let them improvise the finished product a little

Maybe we get an actual reboot instead of Paramount's non-comment on the whole "is it bayverse?" debate
