Haven't heard of this. Any good? Does it scale ok with WFC? I've pretty much only gotten 3rd party for Masterpiece scale and MMC Reformatted so I don't know much about them.

hasbro doesn’t have that mold dude. It’s already been covered. It’s a takara retooling they did themselves. Hasbro doesn’t have access to takara retools and needs to get it from takara to use it if they so wish to

 

Didn't stop them with CW Groove and potp Blastoff. Also, takara tooling have seen stateside release via pulse. What good is 'brand unity' if we can't share toolings?

 

Context matters. Groove was naturally going to be in eventually due to it being Combiner Wars. POTP Blastoff came as a result of it being a cap to the Prime Wars line, which...well...included Combiner Wars in it. It's clear Hasbro wants to have theming going on and even with brand unity, it's clear that Takara still has their own ability to develop their own molds independent of Hasbro. The fact that the Seacons were imported and there still isn't a westernized release is pretty clear that Hasbro is just willing to import some things and not worry about sharing those molds.

Brand unity isn't about making the two the same company. Remember that Takara Tomy also has their own toylines that don't really have a lot presence outside of Japan. Take the Tomica diecasts for instance, which is a competitor to Hot Wheels in Japan that has just started making an American market appearance.

Brand Unit is about making the Transformers retail segment across the brand the same for the sake of marketing. That still leaves the ability for Hasbro AND Takara to have their own special molds and toys, like in the Selects line.

At a convention during combiner wars someone asked hasbro if we were going to get groove and hasbro said that when takara makes their own molds or retoolings that hasbro isn’t involved with they don’t have access to them but they can always try to get them. They did eventually with groove and a couple years later with Blast off

the brand unifications is with mass retail but not exclusives. That’s why there were plenty of differences with unite warriors, a takaras selects line like the seacons, super Megatron or even their legends line. When you see a retooling happening that’s a takara exclusive it’s their own thing with hasbro no involvement so that can’t use them unless takara says it’s fine

as for them being on Pulse. They’re being sold as an import. That’s how hasbro is able to sell these things now but they have zero involvement with development and production. They’re just selling them they’re not making them

 

Actually, I like this.

I might have preferred a less creamier white, but I guess they saved that for Starscream.
Also, I would have rather had a new head, a remolded chest with the details of the original (and possibly the front of the legs as well) and a cannon with a transparent blue plastic barrel, instead of the spaceship add ons.

I know it would have limited him to a tank mode, but I wouldn't have been too bothered.

Now, as for SG Galvatron, what could they use? I guess they could use Siege Springer - or recolour Kingdom Galvatron and throw in a few helicopter parts. 

 

In fact, it can be attributed to triple changers modes.

 

Springer or Spinister are our best bets at the moment. Honestly, considering all the current SGs they might go the boring route and play it safe and just use Kingdom with as little retooling/new accessories as possible.
... Or they could throw us a curveball and heavily retool SS Blackout.

 

I really don't want to buy another Siege Megatron but dammit......... I kind of like this guy.

 

I was also thinking of Studio Series Blackout/Grindor.

I might get this if/when the upgrade kit comes out for it,  I like it but the spaceship mode is very bad.

 

I like this SG Megs. I'm not into the SG at all, and don't care for any of the SG figures. But this one speaks to me. I think it has largely to due to both the colors and ship mode. Echoing others it reminds me of Klingon ships, big Star Trek fan, and it also reminds me of the Starcraft terran battlecruiser, love me some Starcraft.

 

ooh, the tank mode looks great, love the colors. Not sure if id get another megs tho, and that ship mode is not cutting it.

cool that Energon Megs is getting a third-tier nod at least.

 

I've said this in other threads, but if anyone's gonna buy a third party replacement head for this guy, I'll happily buy the original head from you.

I can't wait to get this guy! the fact that he's basically a triple changer now still makes me so happy!

 

I'm not expecting it, but I really hope it's less cream colored in person.
