I had a pretty decent G1 collection going when I started collecting again in 1995/96. I snagged all of the stuff I had as a kid from my parents house and I kept all of the boxes and foam. All of it. I started with a pretty good collection just from that alone. By 2009 I had a pretty massive G1 set and I was only buying near mint vintage figures. I had a few things that were pretty special to me from my childhood that I was happy I hung on to. In early 2011 I sold it all. I wish I would have kept the ones from my childhood. The ones I played with and touched and made stories in my head with. You can replace them with someone else’s toys and it turns out G1 boxes aren’t as rare as I thought. I regret selling those off. Anything modern, I don’t give a shit about. I have no real memories attached to those and they’re just things to me. At the end of the day that’s what they are. Just things, but things I have an emotional or sentimental feeling about.

I lowkey regret selling my AD-12 Revenge Optimus Prime, a movie accurate redeco of HFTD Battle Blades OP, I got that at Universal Studios, very rare, and It could've began a CHUG-scaled collection, but in the end I sold it anyways :(

But his knees are very shoddy and overall outdated, articulation-wise, but looks-wise, it holds up beautifully...

I agree, but it makes me question what other ways I'm which that money could have been spent. Travel? A down payment on a house? A new car?

I do regret not getting the Protectobots from CW, as they were the only main team (other than the Technobots but I don't count that release as the Technobots as too many liberties were taken with them) my lineup is missing. I am hopeful that with the rumors of Legacy redoing the Stuntacons I'll get another crack at them

Regret buying? Very easy: Beast Machines Supreme Cheetor. Bought it brand new when it was released and after the first transformation, I hated looking at it. Easily the worst TF I've ever owned and the only figure I have ever thrown away.

Regret selling? Also easy: G1 Fortress Maximus. I was desperate for cash about 17 years ago and I ran out of other options. I sold it complete with box (but no insert) for only about $400:( . It was the only figure I ever sold and even though I have Brave Max and the Encore release now, there is no replacement.

I wish i'd ordered 4 Centurions instead of just 2 - though I don't think that was logisitically possible though.

I can't count the number of times I added Greenlight to my shopping cart but never pulled the trigger. Now I have Novastar, Lancer and Moonracer. Sigh.

I regret preordering Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus. I found the toy to have awkward poseability and its inability to properly hold it's accessories was annoying. I don't think I would've minded if I had gotten it on sale though

Thankfully I bought a ton of them when they were super cheap years ago. Pretty sure I still have a good majority of them. Definitely collected most of the basic figures.

Been like a week, but I regret buying Draculus. Can't really put my finger on why I don't like it. At least I got him on sale. Maybe I will warm up to it.

Collecting X-Collaborative line, so I'm going to keep the figure, otherwise I think I would've returned it.

Same with Draculus. I just don't enjoy it that much.
Also Shattered Glass Megatron. Maybe I'm just burned out on that mold, but I haven't messed with it since the day i got it. Just does nothing for me.

Amen on Draculus. If I didn't have a crossover shelf, he'd be gone already, and that's coming from someone who bought him for $19. I have fun with the cape, but I just don't think the mindwipe mold is very good.
Honestly, I never thought Siege Megatron was the greatest mold. Both the Siege and Earthrise versions suffer from weird design choices like the hands, ankles, and some of the backpack transformation stuff that has kept the mold below the G1 Optimus' we've gotten over the last 3 years, no matter the paint scheme.

I’ve since repurchased FansToys Phoenix, but my other main selling regrets are MakeToys Contactshot and Unite Warriors Computron. I’d like to get them back at some point, but don’t know when that’ll happen.

I’m glad you’re doing so well. I would love to be in a position where what I do can be qualify as “hoarding wealth”. You go from broke, to barely making enough, then pay check to pay check, to comfortable, then finally hoarding money. Anywhere at comfortable and above is the dream.

Back to the topic of regrets of buying. I regret 1/3 of my annual TF purchases. Not immediately after the year is over but when I look at a list of TFs from two years back, I feel the regret. A new version of any character instantly triggers regret with few exceptions.

I regret taking a break from collecting during Combiner Wars, now their outrageously expensive. I did manage to get Swindle and Onslaught for cheap a few years ago. The only figure I can think of I regret buying is Animated Ratchet.
