(If someone could change the title of the thread so the 2nd part isn't all caps that would be great! my mistake, lol)

Beast Wars is having somewhat of a resurgence lately, with the characters being featured in War for Cybertron Kingdom and the upcoming live action movie Transformers Rise of the Beasts, we've also had multiple new figures be released. So is it time we got a new Beast Wars animated series?

The Autobots and Decepticons have been the focus of numerous animated shows throughout the years, while the Maximals and Predacons have only had two mainstream shows dedicated to their story, the last of which ended 21 years ago.

So would you like to see an update on the Beast Wars story with a new animated series and if so, how would you like to see it be done?

A reboot? continuation? or maybe something else…

Let me know your thoughts on the topic - I’m interested in hearing everybody's opinions.

I also created a Transformers Beast Wars reboot intro using clips from Kingdom - feel free to check it out if you like :)

Would I like to see full-on organic animal Transformers make a comeback, as well as BW's penchant for actually fleshing out the technology of the Transformers? Yes.

A new BW series? Absolutely not. Make something original.

But why not a new take on Beast Wars - its hardly been done to death, I mean we've only had 2 US series based on the Maximals v Predacons. The Autobots vs Decepticons have had so many different stories be told why can't the same be done for Beast Wars?

Doing something new with Beast Wars would be more original than another Optimus Prime v Megatron story, no?

I love BW, it's my favorite Transformers show - but I know they'll also never recapture the magic of it.

If by "Beast Wars" you mean Maximals vs Predacons, I'm on board. But if you mean another show about Optimus Primal and his crew stuck in the past fighting Megatron, no. Reusing the factions and the concepts is fine only so long as the story completely steers away from what we know of as "Beast Wars". I'm over remakes and reboots whether it's G1 styled or not.

Yes, that's what I would like to see a new Maximals v Predacons series (with the original voice actors, if possible) - their story has been relatively untouched for a long time, so it would be something original.

Another idea that i thought could be interesting would be a sort of prequel to the events Beast Wars, telling Megatron's rise to become the Predacon leader and Optimus Primal's time as a minor Maximal officer.

    No I would not.

But if a new Beast Wars or series in the Beast Wars era absolutely must be made, I would like it to explore a completely different setting with different characters with minimal connection to the original series. Considering the current cultural zeitgeist, I would suggest a series that focuses on Botanica's ship and crew. They would probably have to make up new villains though, don't think there were any Predacons there. They can do what every hack writer these days thinks makes for good drama: have lots of internal strife within the crew and perhaps have a portion of the crew break off (maybe they didn't want plant modes) and form a new faction. To satisfy Hasbro trademarks this new faction could perhaps take new names from known Autobots and Decepticons.

I like your idea. I would love to see a Transformers series that gives us something completely new like what BW did after G1. Maybe new factions?

Curious why wouldn't you like to see a new take on Beast Wars or a another story told for Primal's Maximals v Megatron's Predacons?

Because they would so massively screw it up to the point where it would start to retroactively affect older Beast Wars media.

Kingdom and Rise of the Beasts have given the impression that pretty much no one with any sort of creative control over Transformers media has watched more than 10 seconds of Beast Wars, let alone any understanding of its significance and place within Transformers.

For "new takes" we already have Beast Wars 2 and Neo, whose "japaneseness" is both a strength and a weakness. While those two took several liberties with the lore/timeline/continuity/tone, they at least had a reverence and love for Transformers and Beast Wars which really shows. Also really cool theme songs. As far as I understand Japan also does not have the same trademark laws that the US has, so they can go wild with new settings and characters while anything coming out of the US needs to confrom to the endless 4-year-long conveyor belt of the same trademarks.

I guess to answer your original question more completely, it would be "no I would not, unless it was made by Japan".

As a limited series like WFC but with actual quality voice actors, better writing and no rooster teeth sure.

To me, them doing a new series doesn't negatively affect the original, especially if it's not even set in the same continuity and even if it was, I still don't think it does. If people don't like it, they can discard it.

The same way every single Transformers Autobot v Decepticon series hasn't affected peoples perception of G1. (at least it hasn't to me anyway)

And whats the alternative to a Maximal/Predacon series another Autobot/Decepticon series?

As a Transformers fan I want to see new media whatever it is, If it's not very good, fine I won't watch it but what's wrong with Hasbro producing another Beast era series - it could be bad but it could also be really good! lot's of people didn't want to see Beast Wars when they announced that series. It's only by getting new shows we get series like Beast Wars and whatever other TF series you like. :)

True, I may have exaggerated a tiny bit.

I think Transformers is diverse enough to survive it. I mean, it's not like we haven't gotten awful shows before.

I think the factions are fine.

My ideal, limitless budget, dream Transformers series would be to bring back the Beast Wars and Beast Machines writers, producers and voice actors and do TransTech as a proper sequel to Beast Machines. But without those individuals involved, I simply don't trust that it will be done well.

Nah. Just make a show about autobots and decepticons where maximals and predacons just so happen to be included.

I personally would not. I have very little confidence that the original series can ever truly be surpassed, so I'll just stick to watching the DVDs if it's all the same.

Basically what @AutobotAvalanche said, I'm all for exploring the Maximals and Predacons in a different kind of setting but not trying to 'remake' Beast Wars / Machines.

Honestly I'd love for a show or comic to explore the Chimeracon concept from Nick Roche's Sins of the Wreckers in more depth.

Please no more remakes of beast wars, we’re already getting a heavily beast wars inspired movie next year.

But please make a wreckers show next. I would sell my first born child for a wreckers show or movie.

Sure. Do it on the cybertron the predacons fled from. With a duplicitous tripredacus council subtly working underneath the law and rule of maximal overlords.

Or just pick up where Beast Wars Neo left off. More ships, more crews, more navis.

I think the IDW comic has the right idea, doing just a plain old reboot, adopting similar story beats and adding stuff like new characters. I hear the comic isn’t necessarily executing it right, but I think it’s the right idea on paper. The original show is its own perfect slice of Heaven, so why touch it? Bring back any surviving actors who can reprise their roles - and in a perfect world this would mean both Union and nonunion actors in the same show, so you could still have Chalk and Kaye.

That's exactly what I would do, and here's how:

So, remember how the Dinobots were created in
Fall of Cybertron? Imagine them, but greater in number and with a wider variety of beast modes. Also, Shockwave isn't the true mastermind. It's none other than Tarantulas (formerly known as Mesothulas), a Decepticon scientist who's not only been studying life on Earth, but several other planets, as well. Upon his return to Cybertron, Project Predacon is initiated. The plan is to create an army of super soldiers with alt-modes and abilities based on creatures he discovered. The Maximals of this universe are Autobot soldiers who were captured by the 'Cons for use as guinea pigs, but were rescued before they could "domesticated (remember what happened to Dominus Ambus in the IDW comics? Yeah, that kind of domestication)." Other characters created as a result of the project include the Monsterbots, Seacons, and Terrorcons.
