Yep. It would have been better served giving the scripts one more pass and coming up with a movie each. Trim the fat, narrow the focus, maybe cut the character count a bit.

Fear Street did this to great effect.

 

Alr so that was... expected.

Not as a bad as earthrise in my opinion my ranking would be siege>kingdom>earthrise. Same issues as the previous seasons such as lack of transformations, shitty voice acting, moronimus prime, slow af dialogue, boring action, guns are p shooters, over complicated plot and the PREDACONS. The predacons were just the worst. Megatrons voice is fucking dreadful and I hate how he’s just an ass licker to other Megatron.

overall about what I expected. Hasbro if your going to make a show maybe make the budget more than a tenner and at least double the episode count each season.

 

MOTU Revelations was great.

Kingdom was garbage.

Kingdom AirRazor is a good stand-in.

On-subject: Kingdom wasn't good but ER set such low expectations in my mind that I was actually pleasantly surprised. And MOTU Revelations is good? It showed up on my Netflix feed and I just ignored it.

 

MOTU wasn't great. If you are a huge fan, it was either love or hate it, but for the rest of us it was very mediocre.

 

You're right, it wasn't great. Compared to kingdom it was great, but in general it was more like perfectly average.

Two completely different pieces of media can't spoil each other just because they have similar plot points.

I go back to my previous example: Did Sentinel Prime's heel turn and subsequent murder of Ironhide give away anything about any other TF story?

Did Prime killing Megatron at the end of DotM spoil anything about G1?

Okay, that makes it cool but the vocals on it could use a little beefing up lol. Overall though if we got a better plot, better voice director and better voice cast, I think we'd be good. Visually it's not terrible although I prefer the original over this style, I can see the appeal.

The voice actors were HORRENDOUS. Even with the cheap ass non union budget they had, they found some random teenager to try to sound edgy for BW Megatron. Good LORD it hurt hearing the teeth gnashing when they tried yelling. Not just for BW Megs either, I think Primal too. But BW Megs was the biggest fail. I’m sure the Sunbow Megatron would laugh at anyone taking his name and decry them for not being the real thing. That’s me right now with Kingdom Megs. This is NOT BW Megs. This is indeed the primitive lackey who dared take his name from a better character. You can’t go from the literal antichrist of the Covenant of Primus who delights in finally fulfilling his fated actions and realizes he named himself after himself all along, to this kiss ass.

What a waste for the most part. The Maximals were there just for the toy line’s sake. Cheetor, Rattrap, Cheetor, and Tigatron were all there to be assholes. As a matter of fact, everyone was an asshole. I didn’t care that they teamed up by the end of episode 2. Everyone was an asshole to each other.

Dinobot was okay, I ended up being okay with his voice. It’s clear they did genuinely love and appreciate BW Dinobot and saved their effort for him. Airazor was actually a bit likable if awkward, I liked that she still had her thing with Tigatron presumably. Blackarachnia was good. Starscream was good. Outside of those four? The rest I barely registered.

I can’t wait for the new Nick series because being made by Nick, by default more work will be put into it than this. Hell, Rise of the Beasts will do more than this did.

I need to rewatch the actual BW as a palate cleanser. I absolutely hate that people are not giving the show a chance because of the dated CGI. What did you expect from the second ever CGI show? People act like all of Jurassic Park’s 1993 cutting edge CGI still looks perfect today and will turn their nose up at BW. Oh, please. At least this piece of shit got us some good BW toys.

 

Prime, Megs, and Starscream for sure get more loyal interpretations, which is enough for most fans. I would argue that Primal, Megs, and at minimum Dinobot, Rattrap, and Rhinox should have gotten the accurate treatment. It doesn't have to be all characters but the iconic ones for sure.

 

I'm not a fan of MOTU but most arguments against it are that why are they making a show called "He-Man" and the Masters of the Universe and then make it about another character after episode 1? It should have just been a spin-off with an original story but it was a bait and switch. It's similar to how people complain that the Bay movies are called "Transformers" but they only show up about less than a third of the movie, or how in most Godzilla movies, he only shows up for like 10-15 minutes of total screentime.
