I can spot a lot of differences from their old prototype & render : the hip, back, probably the ears and especially the knees are possitive, but the legs are a bit less clean.
The changes seem to improve the articulation, or maybe the old one was specifically for the Ultra Magnus.
Can't wait for more updates. I hope they can mix the best between the two versions.

I wonder how the windows are swapped, maybe just as simple as MP44's method. You can see the silver outline on windows in truck mode, they're gone in robot mode. Neat.

DX9 Dutch? Yeah he has a major diaper but I love him.

 

I actually love the super Sunbow proportions of Newage OP. It’s something fresh that we’ve only seen (like you said) with DX9 Dutch, and that figure left a lot to be desired.

 

The truck windows look like 1 piece with no cut in the middle.

 

I’m sure all previous images were Ultra Magnus. Looking at the original render you can see a lot of difference. Like the ones you said. I definitely saw the different legs and backpack between the two.

 

Yeah, I see the unsightly leg hinges are gone, which is great news. I still feel they need to borrow some crotch plate height and trade it for more torso grill but I doubt theor transformation allows for it. NA seems to like squat torsos in general, looking at their Datsuns and Porsche.

I think MS pulls off the general proportions 5% nicer, but materials and finish are a big factor for me, so let’s see ! Can’t wait to see the NA EX.

 

This looks very good. It's a true contender for the best legends OP. I am still more sold on the MS one but might get both.

 

My current plans are buy NA Toon Optimus and Ultra Magnus. Depending on how much I love the figure and toy deco I’ll get the toy deco for work but I might get MS for work instead.

 

After watching the video, the articulation and tolerances look outstanding.

Both MS and NA are looking really good, I’ll probably end up with both.

One thing NA consistently beats MS at (for me at least), is the fun factor. Complex transformation or not, with the articulation, tolerances, and hardware looking as good as they do this will be a blast to pose and mess around with.

All of you "Diaper" people need to go back and watch the G1 show.

 

I don't think anyone has mentioned this (I could have missed it), but it looks like the grill is the actual truck grill, not a fake. It seems like the bumper rotates 180° with the lower part of the grill to shorten it while revealing the chest windows.

 

There's nothing "diapery" about G1 Optimus but DX9 Dutch in particular does have this unique look on his front skirt that always did look "diapery" to me.

To remedy this odd look, I slightly pull the front hip skirt slightly forward. Viola. Looks a little better to me haha

 

How awesome would it be if NA went all out on this release like MP-44? NA human figs, multiple heads/faceplates for Prime?

I really want clear shots of the head. In some of these photos the eyes look like dead eyes. Not bright enough blue IMO but this will likely be fixed for promo shots.

 

Yeah I don’t want/need the trailer at all (but it probably wouldn’t be hard for me to sell), but I really hope both these heads are included.

 

Wow, that's a fantastic looking prototype even without considering how small it is. I really hope they can nail the head sculpt, that's usually the make-or-break.
