Honestly, the LC and SHF do enough for me, but I get whatcha mean. ANd I posted my (poor) edit in my previous post but I'll show it again
It does look better, however since the tampographs are placed on actual eye sockets you'd have to modify the sculpt look like.
No, what I mean is that the eyes are tampograph'd wrong on that figure (in the original pictures). I just moved the eyes to where the sculpt was, so it's more of some poor tampographing than a poor sculpt.
The skin tone is a little weird looking but it's not off of my expectations after having the movie Conan figures in hand. Other than that I'm not sure what the big problem is? Can some of you actually go to a $1 store and look at the toys there before parroting this stupid line over and over?
April does seem cursed to get figures that fall short of the bar, no matter the line, style, or decade. She winds up being one of the weakest entries in every line, when she should be a highlight. Maybe the supposed NECA 2.0 April will finally change that?
If it's indeed a tampo issue I hope this is a one-off and not something that's a QC issue on every version of April.
She's just an ordinary human wearing a monotonal jumpsuit -- kind of like Rose Tico. How can she possibly stand out in a line full of grotesque mutants and purple ninjas? Well, cleavage, I guess, but that's frowned upon these days.
The lighting of the first pic is why some said it looks dollar store like. That real shiny plastic cheap look. The second one shows it looking much better. They clearly have direct lights pointed at it on the first one though which is why the faces all looked majorly washed out. I kind of like the way it looks, but I am fiercely trying to stand my ground that I don't need to jump heavy into super7..........no, I dont need it..........sure dont...........damn it, be back later, switching over to bbts for a minute.
Yeah, the biggest issue is typically that the head/face are never too great. Especially compared to the rest of the line. But even in a general sense. And it isn't just a "normal human" issue. NECA's Vernon turned out far better than their April. She's an important character, so it sucks that the character never seems to get its due in figure form.
The set looks good, Mikey's alt head looks awesome. Still not convinced about April, its the shape of the face sculpt, so gonna pass on her. For those that like it more power to you. I'll be keeping the super7 line to just the turtles, although the monsters is definitely the line's strongest point imo.
Yeah honestly this is my only gripe with this wave that I've seen so far. I really expected vac metal.
Well it's skinnier than Neca's so someone will be happy I guess I was coming to say that, def not Vac, maybe this ver. will get the treatment Con exclusive super shiny Metalhead, oh wait that's not possible bcuz of the joints
I'm really debating on cancelling my pre-order on Metalhead now. Overall, I still prefer the toy design to the toon design, hence why I never opened my NECA Metalhead (bought it for the packaging, smh). But that lack of chrome is a critical fail in my mind's image of Metalhead. I think the make/break factor will be whether he has light-piped eyes. If he doesn't have those, I'm fucking out.
I'm pretty sure we could see the light piping in the test shot pics, and that second head in the box photos above looks like the eyes have a lot more red.
