Hey, there’s certain figures that most people don’t like but I’ll happily defend to the death

POTP Rodimus is one of them. Once I finally get him he’ll be MY definitive version of Rodimus Prime in my collection.

    Just got this figure today.
Not sure how to feel about it. It looks good, but that was a seriously unpleasant transformation. He may be staying in bot mode for a LONG time.
Also have the issue where the trailer doesn't close up perfectly.

So much better than POTP Rodimus (oof, didn't realize he was so dusty)

The transformation is a little irritating, especially going back to alt mode.

At first the trailer wouldn't shut all the way, then I folded the handles on the gun emplacement down and then it shut all the way.

Just curious: those who say that the transformation is unpleasant have also handles SS86 Hot Rod? From what I've seen the two share some similarities and I find Hot Rod's transformation nice and engaging, although sometimes worrisome.

I have both, and the reason I find Rodimus's transformation irritating is the arms when going back to alt mode, the chest when going from alt to bot, which confused me how it all locks together thanks to the shit instructions, had to watch a video to see how it works. Getting the rear wheels out of the back of the legs when going back to alt mode is really difficult, it felt like it was going to break at the hinges.
I can transform SS86 Hot Rod pretty quickly, his transformation isn't too bad. Rodimus feels like they took that transformation and tried to overcomplicate it, it reminds me of ROTF era toys. Maybe I'll get used to it, but just the 2 transformations I did annoyed me.

Cool figure. Still not convinced with his alt mode though. But hasbro can make an excuse its not an SS.

Thank you, looking at video reviews I had the feeling that getting the wheels out would have spoiled the fun, raising concerns of breakages. I guess the comparison with Rotf figures is accurate. I love many figures from that era, but still after all those years, transforming Human Alliance cars sends chills down my spine.

maybe if they give this the same treatment as ER Optimus & give him a separate special release later WITHOUT the trailer, I'll bite.

Top of my trailer wont close up at all and its frustrating. Kinda makes the vehicle mode pointless. Car and robot are neato. Not really worth the commander class cost, imo. I'd rather have a simpler robot and simpler trailer in a leader pricepoint.

If anyone has a fix for the trailer, please post. On mine it seems the grey inserts are too thick, pushing the front open, and the clips on the back end arent secure enough, or are too tight and pushing it open. A friction clip on top would probably work but all the tabs seem to be for alignment only. The trailer was gonna live in a bin regardless, but its kinda bumming me out cause I at least want to appreciate the alt mode a bit.

I took mine apart and found that it's probably due to the walls being slightly warped. Close the front or back and the back or front pops open.
Took the long pins out and will use a heat gun and clamps to fix it. Hopefully.

The front gray nylon clips also don't want to stay in flush.

Ok, I rubber banded the trailer shut (avoided direct contact with the painted areas) for a few days and left it in my garage for a little heat boost. The back part now consistently stays tabbed in. The front part is a little better and actually stays in place...sometimes and at random. If I look at it funny, then the front part splits open again. I'll try rubberbanding it some more and see what happens.

I'm a little weary with a heat gun because it can make tabbed connections actually looser.

maybe sanding down the back of the grey parts? they come off easily with the one screw.

Got mine today and he's missing a part. I'm sure I'll be able to return and replace him, but in the meantime please let me know if anyone gets another defective copy and can pull this part for me prior to returning. It's such a waste otherwise.

Mine Rodimus arrived today and I just wanted to chime in and add that I too have a very stubborn trailer that does not want to close all the way. Aside from that and a few tolerance issues he is a very impressive figure but I worry about how he will hold up over time to multiple transformations because the amount of force I need to use to compress his translucent back pack all the way terrifies me.

I posted this in my bloated mod thread:

Non-Destructive Fix for Kingdom Rodimus Prime Trailer

Rodimus Prime is an awesome figure, however, the trailer walls don't want to stay closed. There are various factors involved with this: the large wall assemblies having warps, the twin cannons affecting the walls, and the triangular gray clamp panels.

The tabs on the walls are one of the main issues as they are not strong enough to stay in place. The twin cannons don't seem like they interfere with the walls, but the walls noticeably close better with them out. The gray clamps have the potential to stay flush but don't want to stay flush when plugged in. The walls are also able to close better when the gray panels are removed via screwdriver.

However, as seen in my custom blast effects posts, my trailer is able to stay closed, even with the cannons and gray clamps left inside.

    I did 2 things:

    1) Used heavy duty rubber bands to clamp the walls shut with pressure applied to the front and rear of the walls. AVOIDED touching any of the painted areas. Then placed the trailer in a hot garage for at least 48 hours. (I put mine in a breathable tote bag to protect from garage dust.) A hot environment is needed to help slowly force the walls back into place, otherwise, the process may take weeks to do. Obviously, do not use an oven as precise heat control in the very low range is not doable, let alone risk of damage from a flame or being too close to a heating element. Same with a heat gun or hair dryer, which may also result in rubber band marks or even the rubber bands digging into the plastic when heated too much.

This allowed the rear wall tab to reliably stay in place. The front part of the wall still wanted to come apart, although, if I leave the cannon out (especially when removing the gray clamp panels), seemingly at random, the front tabs will barely engage and keep the walls shut. Any slight movement, however, the walls will come apart again.

    2) Reinforced the front tab with electrical / vinyl tape. This may take multiple attempts until you find tape at the right thickness and tack. First few attempts failed as the tab pushed the tape out of place. Fortunately, I have a roll of red electrical tape that is able to stay in place. Cut a piece down to size to fit inside the port area for the tab. If electrical tape didn't work, I was going to try 2-sided Scotch tape.

Even with the cannons and gray clamp panels inside, doing both of these fixes allowed the trailer walls to reliably stay shut, even with various forces applied. I do have to hold the walls together for a few seconds, but then stays on relatively tight afterwards. I don't have to do anything extra if the cannons are not inside.

Hearing your hot garage idea sparked this:
What about bagging the trailer and putting it in a water bath with a sousvide machine with precise temp control

honestly when you get right down to it I think the biggest obstacle to "staying shut" is that the cannon is maybe .5 mm too tall even when collapsed as tight as possible.

A sous vide machine may not get low enough temps to safely do this.

    It's not just the cannons.
