Relieved to see they haven't taken any unnecessary liberties with Bludgeon, I've been wanting an articulated version of that character for so long and this is finally it! Other figures have little interest to me. Tracks doesn't quite seem Action-Mastery enough for some reason, and big names like Grimlock and Megatron are just... well, I mean we love the characters etc but who needs yet another action figure of them?
    Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes!
There were rumours of Hasbro doing Pretenders in their main line next year or something weren't there? While I hope that's true I'm not sure I'd entirely trust them to get it right without doing some weird thing like making the shells transform, or giving the inner bot the attributes of the shell or whatever. Standalone bots that interact with these figures would be amazing, but I can't see that level of inter-company interactivity happening tbh. Especially as Hasbro effectively gazumped them with their Red line.
    Big Yes!
There's a thought... Going back to the idea of the shell being able to open up (even if there's nothing inside, most action figures are molded in halves anyway so it might be an easy little easter egg) what if the empty interior could hold G1 Bludgeon's inner bot? I mean, all we'd need then is a Hasbro reissue of the G1 figure, which is frankly long overdue anyway!

Are these exclusive to somewhere? All I ever see is the “basic” ones. And only at Target come to think of it. But where can I find these “Ultimates”?

p.s. I’d also be interested in that Tracks but really only for the Blaster!

Hell yes! Primal Scream is still one of my favorite issues of the US Marvel comic. Nostalgia plays a big part in that, but regardless: I have a soft spot for the Mayhem Attack Squad characters even if they were less utilized in other TF media from the time. So I definitely need all three of these dudes, despite not having an inner robot.

And...while we're at it...that issue had some cool things that I'd love to see S7 tap into. Seeing as how they're known for going for the deep cuts, here's hard mode:

    The first matrix bearer:

Unicron and Primus in their "energy forms:"

    And, of course, this guy:

Well, Super7? I've got destiny here on the phone...do you accept the charges?

Thinking about getting Bludgeon to go with my G.I. Joe Ultimates but at 8.5", he'll tower over them.

At least he's a skeleton monster. If they do the human Pretenders, I'd like them to fit in with G.I. Joe Ultimates as it's sort of the final frontier in TF/Joe crossover toys.

Count me in for 7" Classic Pretenders to share a shelf with 7" Joes. And the characters from Only Human. And Headmaster/Powermaster partners.

How awesome would it be to get a 7" Spike Witwicky with an upside down Fortress Maximus head as his backpack? (Alternate Cerebros head but my recollection is that the animation skipped Cerebros.)

Like I say, my interest here is in human scale characters to pit with/against Joes.

Yes, I agree with you, that's my biggest problem with the R.E.D. it's just too damn small.

I remember my grandma on my dad's side bought me all of the small Pretenders at Kiddie City. I don't know if they were discounted by then, they were just that inexpensive, or I was getting spoiled, but either way I'm in the same boat where I'll always like Bludgeon.

It feels like a colossal missed opportunity not to have made R.E.D. CHUG scale.

I recalled that they retailed for around 7 or 8. The regular Pretenders were around 10 at Kiddie city if I remember correctly. Ironically, I went to an Ollies that used to be a Kiddie City, and bought a Titans Return Octane there. If it were only back a few rows it would have been where the Transformers aisle.

That'd mean different price points for different characters, which Walmart probably didn't want for the line

Dude they look like crappy drawings a child did that came to life. WFC totally nailed the cartoon aesthetic without making them look like drawings in a coloring book.

Ta! Weirdly I see I did watch and comment in this thread about that vid -just totally forgot about it!

watching it again and looking at the wave 2 stuff… I really want to go for these, but I think they’re about 20% off what I’d personally want articulation wise. It seems pretty certain at this stage the waist skirts don’t have any workaround for forward hip movement and that the ab range will be super small (megaton perhaps excepted). Same with ankle rocker range on a lot of em. I think the shoulders would articulate better if they had the joint cut into the top of the ‘bicep’ rather than on the torso to - they won’t be able to swing their arms wide whilst facing forward with this solution. They seem a bit squat compared to the animation models too?

Not wanting to rag on em - there’s loads I really like. love the glass beaker with megs - that scene in the return of optimus prime really stuck with me! Would personally have preferred a toy head over the emerging drinking one, but that’s a nice choice too. Just wish for my own preferences that the articulation choices were different. Hopefully they tweak their approach to find more of a middle ground as they go, or I can pick up some where the animation model allows for better cuts. I’m super interested in the gi joe ultimates so would like a couple of these too if the articulation stars align.

Nice, tho they seem to be set up for wholesale/businesses only rather than individuals purchasing?

Nice thought! Hi-q had some time in the sun in the comics, and I’d very happily go for a rebirth zarak and spike as cerebros’s head.

I don't normally care about these kinds of figures, but I find myself kind of wanting Grimlock because of the apron, tray, and drinks.
