How is their stuff now.  I recall their old ones were okay.

IMO these are intended as replacements for the weakest parts of the KFC Blaster set. Eject and Rewind are good looking designs. The two animal bots were the weak point. If you're like me and going to keep your KFC Transistor as Blaster in your display, these might be a good upgrade.

These look great to me...for those not upgrading their Hastak MP Soundwave, these fit in perfectly with the OG HasTak tapes. For the current Decpitcon MP tapes I display the OG Hastak tapes in their alternate modes, and the MMC ones in their bot modes, so it works out great from a display standpoint! So in my case these serve to compliment the possible MMC tapes!

It's pretty good. There are issues sometimes but in my opinion, this is such a small figure with so little weight, unless they get bad plastic I don't see how they could screw these up.

I thought the old ones were decent. Always thought their Ramhorn was pretty clever in how a simple step in the transformation bulked it up from a slender tape to a wide frame rhino. This new one seems to be taking the same step, except it looks like it's exchanged some bulk of the wide frame for wider legs and sides. That's probably the smart way to do it.

V1 Ironpaw had some issues. I know I had to ask for replacement side weapons for it because mine were broken. The side weapons are kind of a PITA though as they're much too small. This new one seems to integrate those better.

Will be keeping an eye on this set. I like my Transistor. I have one of the second wave metallic red ones and never had an issue with it. I periodically think about trading it out for a solid colored one.

We must have completely opposite experiences. The XTB I have (Andras, Boost, Savant) are solid and well built with no problems. The KFC I have are the antithesis of that. Transistor had joint issues from the start and his cassette buddy is a floppy pile of crap. That pales in comparison to my Crash Hog, who has had numerous parts and pins shear off to the point where I leave him on the shelf and am afraid to touch him anymore.

Wow, indeed, that sounds a bit different from my experience. Crash Hog is one of my favourite bots. If he had better fingers he could pass as one of FT's best products. He's rock solid and has a beautiful sculpt. - XTB seems like a lottery for me. For each good figure you can get another defective one. Thankfully I did not get involved into that Locke disaster. But to be honest, my Andras, Paean, Savant, Klaatu and Stunticons are pretty good. Unlike Ollie or Arkose. Utter trash!

I'd rather wish they would start working on stuff like Deathsaurus and the masterforce jets instead

These look incredibly show accurate! Kinda surprised by the lukewarm reactions here.
Are these supposed to be the same size as the MP tapes?

Let us all hope they look better than these CG renders. I won't hold and excitement until I see actual proto's. Far too much can happen in development & honestly, the originals were fine if you were properly handling them.

I just hope they do not alter more of them. The gimmicky alt modes made them worth the purchase in most cases.

So, what we've established is that buying anything from Keith, regardless of what name it's under, is a friggin lottery. :lol

These do look better than their original version of these characters, but that isn't really saying much. In the end I expect both MMC and FT to be better, and I'm planning to get both. I don't need a 3rd version of these characters (4th if you count the Iron Factory ones which aren't that much smaller for cassettes) and don't need them bad enough to buy stand ins I know I'm replacing.

I can think of a way this could affect the MMC tapes. Someone working with MMC specifically stated they had not prioritized the tapes because they feel like there is little interest (quoted below). With this people will talk about the MMC ones more so maybe they will see more of the interest that is out there. Of course if their resources are tied up it may not have a chance of doing anything of value anyway.

Hasbro Rung could have given them more confidence to go forward seeing what little competition Hasbro was actually bringing to the table.

Most of the interest is latent which is why they haven't picked up on it (also they seem to not want to see it, as it has become a convenient excuse to not do something). The rest of us see how quickly this thread spawned three pages of discussion and quite a bit of it talking about the MMC versions.
What would drive even more demand will be FT's Blaster getting the full-color prototype photos reveal. Which will likely come with a reveal of FT's versions of them, which if they're good enough for a lot of collectors, could be proof that MMC waited too long and missed the prime market opportunity for theirs.

I always felt there wasn't much discussion on the MMC cassettes simply because there was nothing to complain about (besides lack of having them). With the lack of any news any discussion would essentially be bumping the thread without news. I know my thoughts were "I love them, I want them" and I didn't have anything more to say really so I didn't say more. Essentially we are being punished for actually being good members of the community and not bumping the thread asking for news that isn't there.

I think folks are tired of things like higher prices and lower quality. Lockegate comes to mind. Also the replacement game is getting old. And now that we see a price I'm definitely not preordering. These would have to blow me away and I'm not seeing it. I have the previous releases and $70 for 2 tapes will get spent on other characters I don't have yet.

YMMV of course, but that shouldn't need to said.

That's not that bad. If the quality is there, I might be interested. But I'm in no hurry.

I'm good with that price. The orignals are still on my shelf and they're...weak. To be fair, they're a good stand in from like what, 6 years ago....longer? I've had them forever. I wouldn't mind upgrading at that price.

I was curious so I looked them up, Steel Jaw will was August 2013 and will hit 8 years "this month" (depending on your time zone whether you have hit August or are still in July). Naturally the design is older. The toys pages at the top of TFW2005 haven't been kept up to date for 3rd Party figures, but for old ones like these cassettes v1s are on there.
