*Arthur gasp* Kinda amazed it managed to keep going all this time. If it weren't for that Ratburn Wedding episode I'd have just assumed it ended ages ago.
Let's just say a few characters who was in almost every episode reminded me of bad people in my life.
No one forced me. I use to watch it with my sister, but there were lots of episodes I did not like and I can't get them out of my head. Even now on youtube, I don't watch Arthur anymore, but it's always shows up ever time I search something else. But it's mostly because there are characters I despise like DW, Binky, Buster, Francine, Muffy and the Tibbles, they reminded me of people in my life.
I haven’t watched it regularly since like 2006, and that’s like the time that Arthur’s voice started getting provided by some really high pitched kids. The show also got kinda lesson or issue heavy. And I mean I was growing up. I never stopped watching cartoons or anything but Arthur started feeling a bit too young to watch. Which is weird because there’s quite a few classic episodes I can still watch today and appreciate. So maybe it’s just the grumpy old fan in me that prefers the old days. I don’t think the show really stepped down in quality from what I’ve seen, it just gets a bit campy these days with songs and stuff. The flash animation also looks lame. It’s still a great show and it’s been around almost as long as I’ve been alive, so it’s crazy that this one constant is finally ending. I’ll still have the older seasons to watch. I had a VHS called “Arthur’s Scary Stories” as a kid and those are still staples for my Halloween viewings each year. Thanks for the fun, Arthur. A quarter century is crazy.
I'm surprised there are still new episodes, thought they've bee on rerun for years now. I'm fine with this, it definitely had a longer lifeblood than one would think. Though hopefully PBS doesn't drop it being on its listings, kids do well with Arthur as a show. Though I'll admit, the animation declined once they switched to flash/harmony. It felt slippery and stiff at the same time. I loved Arthur as a show growing up and I'll always appreciate it for what it was to me and my sister. Good run. How far they went.
lol i was just willing to accept there was a long-running king arthur series i'd totally avoided hearing about before i clicked the article
The show also runs on comic book time where no time passes despite society moving on. One noticeable example was the recent Thanksgiving special, where Arthur says he didn’t have Pal the previous Thanksgiving… meaning the entire 25 season show has taken place within a year. Arthur isn’t really stressed about continuity but it definitely trips you out. Also, get this from a recent episode: Crazy.
This show is still on? Stopped watching it in the 90s! Is dw still a huge jerk who gets what she wants while Arthurs awful parents blame him for everything she does and punishes him? Remember years ago they did a "worst kids cartoons parents" list and his parents of course made the list along with timmy turners parents and Caillous parents . Dw had made "most hated cartoon" lists many times!
I remember watching Arthur after Fox kids stopped airing cartoons. I stopped watching when I started middle school. Great memories.
If it makes you feel any better, Marc Brown himself hates the episode where Arthur hits DW because DW didn’t get punished for deliberately breaking Arthur’s toy plane, and Arthur’s parents had no sympathy for him when he got hit. He hated the disproportionate handling of it.
Series finale will be a timeskip 'Arthur' Final Season Finale to Depict Grown-Up Versions of Characters - Variety
Nice. I might just have to watch it for this. One of my favorite episodes was the one where Ms. Rathburn substituted the class for her brother. jD001
