Also well said. And I loved that into scene, as does my brother who was disappointed that they seemed to be making her a damsel, then you get to "These idiots are telling me everything I want to know" and the fact she pulled it off again against Loki.
Though oh god the people complaining about her slight freakout when she's stuck in a room with Hulk rampaging around in the Helicarrier   at that point Hulk was a largely unknown factor who as far as she knew was a brainless monster, in a confined space and she's smart enough to know that in a straight up fight she is way out of her league and if she did get in a fight there isn't the room for her to manouever which would be her best bet against a much stronger enemy. It's not a disservice to her as a character, and I'm pretty sure the male characters blanche at the thought of fighting Hulk one on one.

Once again I feel like this is a symptom of how public view has swung from rightfully feeling it's sexist that female characters have to be sexy all of the time to where there's not a lot of hate towards any character who is sexy and the assumption of if a character is sexy they can't also be competent, or they must hate that they are sexy. They can't take pride in their appearance. Or they can't weaponise their sexuality, which is crazy because as you highlighted very well in your posts, there's a difference between characters randomly perving, and the character using it her/himself as a weapon. It's a matter of agency I guess?

Probably not, as Tarantulas was the one who made her a spider too, to try and make her more loyal to him. Hehe, I do remember Megatron commenting that Tarantulas's choice of beast mode for her may have had some underlying motivation. Though with her striking poses in the background at the time, it came off as more purvy reasons than trying to instill loyalty.

Every single member of the Avengers except Thor would have freaked out at that point (I imagine Cap would have kept his cool, but still ran like hell!). Stark freaked out in AOU when he went up against a rampaging Hulk, in an open city area, and he was in the Hulkbuster armour!

Well said. This is a trend that's annoying me a little, I must admit. Characters who are sexy can still be total badasses, and they can often play that aspect up to manipulate their way to success. But it seems like women all need to be built like men and be total tanks nowadays. I'm glad to see the tanks are out there, but lets get some variety? Both are good (and everything in between). Same with men. Let's see some Thors, and let's see some Gimli's. And everything in between. And let people with different builds and physiques deal with problems in their own way, using their individual skills and abilities. It's why I never questions Natasha taking down much bigger blokes than her. Because she doesn't just punch them with her fist, she uses her speed and agility to flip around and send them flying. Or she uses a weapon.

 

Meh, I am sitting here writing a sort of job application thing here.

A decision has has been made to centralise the kind of work i do in the city district in one place, so all of us sitting in the districts will share the same building. Its actually a decent idea that actually seem well funded and the process has been decent so far.

But now we have gotten to the part where the new jobtitles and descriptions have been revealed and we sort of have to apply for the new positions. There is no real chance ayone is not going to get a new job, but there are a few more "advanced" positions I am interested in.

I just hate the process of "selling" myself, writing stuff about good I supposedly am and why they should pick me for the position rather than someone else. Its cringey but I guess I have to do it.

 

Do you guys do those wanky performance review reports every year or whatever? Might come in handy for inspiration for once!

 

Bullshit the hell out of it. That's what everyone else will do. If you want even a sniff of those advanced positions then you need to make that cup of tea you made yesterday sound like the freakin moon landing!

Seriously, make sure you tell them how good you are at what you do. Otherwise, some idiot who can bullshit like a champ will get paid more money than you and then make you fix things when they balls it up.

Thanks, Oreo gobbled up his steak at just after 5am so he's eating OK which is something but it pulls at my heart strings every time he moves at the moment. So far today I've also not been able to get through to the vet but will obviously keep trying.

My folks being out gives me a rest from Mum's BS and the quiet because she's not got the TV on half watching the various day time shite is helping me relax a bit.

I met a 3 legged Staffordshire bull terrier a few times that belonged to the couple who we got Rebecca ferret from who were also the same folks with the menagerie of animals that included Oreo "I was Rocket's CGI reference" Raccoon. I think she was one of the rescue animals they took in who if I remember right had been thrown from a moving car which lead to the loss of her leg.

All things considered she was a very sweet tempered dog and easily the best behaved of that breed I've ever come across which showed me that they're not naturally aggressive, they only get like that when they have idiot owners.

Nah we dont really do those. I am in the strange position where I am the only person in my district that fully understand quite what it is I do and I got bosses who realises that and lets me do my job and listens when I say that some things need to be done.

Part of the reason for why we are centralising. There are one or two of us in each district who does our kind of job, but who has been hired to do that job and how they are treated are ridiculously different from each district.

 

Kapow have always been fantastic to deal with in my experience, I'd be more than happy with that.

 

It unfortunately fills me with the dread that my prediction would come to pass, Hasbro UK tries to move in on the independent retails who have been sourcing figures that Hasbro UK simply never imported into the country and then once established and comfortable moves back into old habits of not supplying the goods. I don't want that to be the case but having been around in the fandom for as long as we have, it is a possibility. Heck, I'm still waiting for my Transmutate to ship from Pulse and independents have already had their stock in, no mention of Red Alert from Pulse either...

Where the bloody hell is that set going to be is another bug bear, I really don't fancy paying over £100 on a box of repaints, especially when one includes a Cliffjumper Bumblebee, they could have at least given him a black stripe and a roof light to homage Animated

I am finally among the group that can call themselves owners of the BS Beskar Mando Dad...finally. Annoyingly the wired/fabric cape i bought is a bit naff, im just gonna stick with the plastic one for now and not use the jetpack.

Its good to have a decent plastic representation of the character but i am tempted by the chromed Hot Toys version out next year

 

I adore this figure. When I got it, I just thought it was an absolute masterclass in how to do a deluxe sized figure. one of the very few times I shelled out for the Takara version, the colours are vibrant and it's a perfect MTMTE skids.
Alas, so many years later, it feels a bit dated, posing it feels awkward, and with all the MMC bots on the MTMTE shelf, he feels too small. If there's a G1 fig on the way, and you want a G1 skids, I'd wait for that.

He is flippin' beautiful though, what I wouldn't do for an upscaled version...

 

Just scored a FansToys metallic Quietus on ebay for £136! Annoyingly he's missing his MTMTE head, spare faces and his guns, BUT he has the MTMTE thigh skirts and his swords....still, bargain!

King Canute has arrived via Pulse (the first thing I've pre-ordered from them that has actually been dispatched, everything else is still pending).

He has the lower shoulders but I'm not that bothered. Just to set expectations for anyone else ordering from Pulse.

 

Whilst pulse may have started well by diverting all the hasbro uk stock of SS86 scourge to them, subsequent to that they seem to have been at the mercy of usual hasbro uk distribution issues with lots of items staying on pre order long after smyths, kapow, ID, omegalock, toysarama, comicsandcocktails etc have had them

With ID, Toysarama, Kapow etc etc getting import stock again and not just dealing with hasbro uk as the distributor they are back well ahead of the curve (not just in transformers).

I suspect pulse's sales have dipped and been hit with lots of cancellations.

Hasbro pulse usa is better integrated with hasbro usa HQ and group product decisions plus availability.

As far as we have established, the hasbro uk distributor is nothing more than a typical wholesaler / distributor well removed from strategic influence of hasbro group and usa. Little more than a sizable logistics operation in reality here. Pulse uk/eu may have some better connection to group but based on everything so far, bar ss86 scourge, they seem to be in the unhelpful stock position kapow and id were last year and earlier this year with hasbro uk
