I already have XTB Cliff, so it's not a matter of just filling a hole in the collection... if I'm gonna upgrade I want the BEST version, something clearly better than what I already have (which looks great from almost every angle but has a horrible backback)... and the Takara version, which bears all of the same drawbacks as their Bee which I passed on, is NOT that version. FT's Cliff looks incredibly un-fun to transform, but it also looks great. Sign me up for THAT one.

Totally agree. The FT bots are usually just as definitive or moreso than TT options. The new TT bots (megatron, optimus, starscream, hound) are good, but that bumblebee is a crime against nature. The TT Cliffjumper will probably be an abomination too since it's based on the same mold. Still hyped for the FT Cliffjumper.

If this is TT why would you want something so early in the design phase be seen? It looks trash

Its those feet. I like tt stuff just as much as ft but takara cant seem to figure out how to make the feet on these little guys not look like the inside of my toolbox. Sh!t just crammed in there like I don't care as long as the front looks good.

it is hilarious that when MP-45 was being brought out that they had to make a thread where you could only say good things about it, pretty sad actually.

Honestly it seems to me that third parties have a massive advantage when it comes to very small figures, as they don't have to play by the rules that always make smaller Hastak figures feel so greatly compromised. Like just look at what 3P is capable of at legends scale, Hastak couldn't do that in their wildest dreams.

Maybe that's why they've always avoided minibots in the MP line. I have a feeling we'll see a lot of messy kibble if they ever get to the others.

Being a Toy-over-'Toon guy, I'm am quite happy to stick with XTB Toro as my Cliffjumper.

I appreciate what FT is going for and think it's a really good 'Toon representation. The presumed TT attempt, just as MP-45, looks like total shit.

I agree it was sad, but from a different perspective - so many people keep jumping into a thread for a toy they don't like and seem to make it their mission to constantly bash and put down both the toy and anyone who likes it. Not just giving constructive criticism. But constant "THIS IS SHIT", "YOU'RE A MINDLESS WHITE KNIGHT IDIOT IF YOU THINK THIS IS BETTER THAT THE OPTION FROM SUPER-SUPREME-COMPANY-X". It happens in almost every. single. thread when any company-partisanism is applicable. It does suck some of the enjoyment out of talking to other fans about a toy you're enjoying and even critiquing.

Yeah, I feel that. Also, once a thread is dominated by people who DON'T have the toy and don't plan to get it, it's pretty much definitely gonna suck. I don't mind complaints from actual consumers (those are called "reviews") but when it comes down to it, hearing a hundred people's opinions without having ever seen or held the thing they're opining about gets REAL boring, REAL fast. And that's whether the opinion is good or bad, but it's especially onerous when it's just negativity, because let's face it, we come here to have FUN and share our joy in this hobby of ours.

And I say that as someone who thinks MP-45 is trash and doesn't plan to buy it. But I don't feel a need to piss on everyone's parade constantly if they think otherwise. Plus, I've never even HANDLED the toy, so who knows? I thought MP Hound was just okay, design wise, until I got the KO in hand and realized it was fucking AMAZING... I just couldn't justify keeping Willis on that season 1 shelf. So maybe if I actually handled Bee I might think "this actually isn't so bad after all." It's never gonna be the greatest TF but maybe it's not complete shite... I don't actually know.

I think the world would be in a much better place if more people were aware of what they don't actually know. Sadly the people who are most confident in their "expertise" are often the least informed.

Thank you! For the record, I'm really conflicted on this figure versus a TT version, because I do have MP-45, and it's one of my least favorite official MPs. Mostly due to excessive kibble and "fiddliness" for lack of a better term.

So while I think an official MP-Cliffjumper will have better face sculpts and articulation, I think FT's will look better overall. If FT figures were easier to get at the lowest possible price I'd be more likely to get both, or even pick the FT version, but as it stands I'm more likely to go official only if I miss reasonably priced pre-orders for this guy.

It does nearly always feel like a battleground on the boards with newer MP's. It doesn't seem as much now, but that's probably because, outside of Starscream, it's all been mainly repaints, retools, and Skids.

    I agree.

Since we're all in this hobby, it would be better if everyone accepted not everyone is going to like what you like or vice versa. I'm very much into my "I don't give a shit" phase of life about what other people think about me or what I tell them - that said, despite the rise of popularity/acceptance of "Nostalgia culture" or us just being geeks or whatever, there aren't many people who appreciate what we collect or are interested in. Most look at us and go "huh" when you tell them for the first time.

One of the best parts of this hobby is sharing your stuff and showing it to people who can appreciate it and it's hard to do when people keep ripping on stuff over and over like they're trying to get you to agree to their line of thought.

I don't care about the Bay bots or Beast Wars at all. I have my reasons for that but I know some people love it. I can still appreciate their love of that when they try to share it and go "Hey, here is a thumbs up, nice display".
