We knew the price increase was confirmed, but I think the information about the timeframe is new.

The price hike on everything from Transformers Deluxe and Voyager figures to 6" Star Wars Black Series is already over 10%. ($20 up to $23; $30 up to $34). Or is there another round of increases in the offing?

When did Goldner suddenly become a "she"? LOL!
Calendar Q3 started July 1st. I'm certain the recent price increases are what he's talking about. I wouldn't worry too much about it because holidays also generally mean "sales", too.

    So if I understand everything.
They need to raise prices for the little product they put out, then because it's so limited if I don't grab it asap I'll miss out and have to pay double on the after market.

Why? Because everything seems to be doubling in price lately after it's gone from retail.

Meanwhile hasbro basically has a monopoly on transformers and thus we really can't do much about it besides vote with our wallet and then pay double when we regret it.

Sorry I never bought into they needed to raise prices because of oil costs because when oil crashed the prices remained the same and they found some new excuse to raise or keep current prices.

What a frustrating thing for collectors and parents to be in. On the one hand I love all the toys they are pushing out. On the other hand wallet doesn't and picking up a 20 dollar toy for my kid becomes more complicated.

In the end hasbo doesn't care because it's leadership isn't about that. They are about squeezing every last cent out of its product.

It's a shame what hasbro has become.

We're fast approaching the point where casual fans/collectors will get priced out. Gonna be interesting to see how long that "robust demand" holds up.

This is just inflation. I deleted the rest of my multi-paragraph rant, because it's just not worth arguing economics on this board.

Eeh. Makes zero difference to me really. Either can't find anything or it's scattered across so many stores/websites or (limited) exclusives that it's too much of a hassle to track them down and secure them. So much new product, so little access to it. To me, Transformers as a line of figures may as well be entirely cancelled for all the difference it makes.

    Monopoly? It's their IP lmao

If you don't want to Buy TFs you're free to buy Tobots, or Drive head, or Shinkalion, or M.A.R.S. toys.

This is how business works. I really don't fathom how any one would think any large corporation would swallow any costs.

I'm no corporate bootlicker but when shipping companies start price gouging the fuck out of companies I can't blame Hasbro.

This. It's really quite sad that the product is awesome but obtaining it is so frustrating. This is why I'm only sticking around to fill in my "updated g1" collection then calling it quits.

I honestly can't recall the last time I actually bought a Hasbro figure at modern MSRP. Usually just the stuff I find at discounters like Ollie's or TJ MAXX at heavy discount. I'm already not terribly interested in the current stuff no matter how good it is since prices keep going up and it's just new versions of the same characters over and over, whereas my money largely has been going towards my reignited love for model trains and the ever present drain that is Gunpla. I get more mileage out of my money, especially since the direction of Transformers just has been meandering around in a circle and I just can't get into it as much anymore. Hell, once I finally get my finished MMC DJD (only missing Vos and Kaon) and maybe MMC's Rung, I really don't know if there's truly anything else I want after that.

Luckily for me I'm almost done collecting, I'm just back in the game because of the updated G1 figures. They'll get more money outta me with the rumoured new stunticons and will also if they do Arielbots, Protectobots and Combaticons.

Other than that a new Gears and deluxe treatment on the other minibots to get them into correct scale and Omnibots and I better stop typing or some Hasbro executive will read this and I'll be screwed outta more money! :lol

Imagine how upset people will be at the price swings when the US Dollar is replaced as the global reserve currency. This isn't 1984 and the US Market is just a fraction of Hasbro's global sales.

Edit: Ugh... See, I'm letting myself be dragged back into the economics debate again. Nope. Nope. Nope. This is my last response on this thread.

It would be different if they thought it would result in lost revenue, but why would any company choose to make less profit if customers are still buying more than they did before?

This has nothing to do with the collector's that will buy everything regardless. What will eventually be the cap on price increases is when parents and casual consumers start buying less.
