I feel ya, I doubled up on both combiners and now I'm starting to lean towards abandoning that lol. Coming in I was expecting these sets to be $750-$800, now its looking like $1000+.

I just donno if I can justify $4000 worth of combiners, especially when a good $500 worth of combiner bit are in the closet for the 2 sets that are in bot mode.

 

I'm hoping they give people the option to buy dead end alone without the parts, i'm bored of there goalpost moving now i just wanna finish the team now i couldn't care less about the combiner and i'm out, if they force you to buy the whole thing then i think i'll just get shot of it and go xtransbot seeing as how you can get almost the whole team for the price of there dead end with parts almost, for all of xtransbots faults for which there are many, too many to list, least they give you the option to buy there shitty trailer separate

While nobody is forcing you to buy it i agree it's really shitty to tell people one thing then do another, i wouldn't trust them again personally, they could have just said "we don't know yet"
Least when you choose to commit to buy you know what you'll be spending or ROUGHLY, i mean even now in that message roadking and carbot price? what price is that? is that your original price that you hooked all the people with or "hey look at this chump is paying 600 dollars for stomp lol lets ask for 50% more now on everything because we can" price

Ultimately, I feel like this is all down to them taking so damn long to finish the teams.

Most companies can keep their price promises because their products come out quickly. FT took years, then a global pandemic happened, and we might still be waiting years. What will the primary market price of TF toys look like by then? Will material prices return to normal? What about the price of shipping? What about monetary policy? Is current inflation transitory due to base effects? How will US-China trade relations be in a few years? Will FT decide to increase their price points again? Will FT fall apart and die by then?

I'm just a simple transformer collector, so I try not to fret too much. However, I think it's pretty clear that FTs early announcements actually create more uncertainty than they dispell.

I agree, to some extent. I'm also a simple collector who likes his figures. And I agree that they should have announced the combiners when they were nearly finished, to work out the kinks.

That said, I can understand why they take so long to finish, because they want everything to be stable and solid and whatnot. I hope that this has made FT see that early announcements don't work that well when it comes to combiners.

I'm not going to debate about the prices, because they are too damn high sometimes.
