    Look.

I don't like Cyberverse but if some psycho put a gun to my head and told me to choose between Cyberverse and the Netflix stuff, I'd pick Cyberverse any day of the week. That's the closest I'm ever gonna get to complimenting that show so savor it.

There's a lot to like about Cyberverse. It's lighthearted, it tries new things, it develops a lot of those new things (a rarity in TFs) and has a huge cast of distinct characters. It's bright and full of energy, and just wants to entertain.

The Netflix show is a boring slog of regurgitated plots we've seen again and again for years, with flat and unlikable characters, no cohesive story, and a miserable tone that bathes everything in a thick layer of "why the fuck should I care?" The few new things it does try are inexplicable and awful, making no sense and achieving nothing.

The thing is both TLK and the WFC trilogy are terrible in frightfully similar ways. There are no characters, just individuals who do things. There is no meaningful dialogue, just spouting incredibly stupid lines at each other. There is no plot, things just happen. The key difference is Bay was showing pretty clear contempt for the property and his audience by this point while the WFC trilogy showrunners are delusional and think they've made a renaissance painting.

But yeah, TLK did have Steve Buscemi...

Yeah. TLK was marred by laziness despite the strong concepts, but hey, at least I've seen it in full, whereas I've only seen a few clips of the friggin' Netflix show and I just dunno if I would survive seeing six episodes of that.

Another key difference too: TLK was so horrible it sprung Bumblebee to be it's own rebooted universe instead of a prequel for the Bayverse for how overly contrived it had got and how much money it lost. The Netflix trilogy with FJ Desanto is just as nonsensical, but they'll keep him for whatever inevitable shows there will be for the future, because the only positive thing they believe he has is "giving the fans what they want"

Ugh... why? DeSanto just doesn't seem to care about delivering a good product and yet he promotes it like it's the next friggin' coming of Jesus. Seriously, he makes me actually feel like the TF stuff I write is actually good and me, being a self-deprecating fucker, don't like that.

Hasbruh, bubbe, you want to give this fan what he wants? Kick DeSanto out and hire someone who can deliver a good story.

TLK was an expensive failure, Hasbro couldn't ignore the loss. The Netflix trilogy is a cheap failure, and if I'm being perfectly honest Hasbro and Netflix won't consider it a failure so long as people watch it, hence we'll be stuck with DeSanto and his brilliant ideas for the foreseeable future.

    He voiced Daytrader.

Hasbro can ignore a film falling flat at the box office (Battleship lol) provided someone else was funding it, which is usually the case for these larger big budget films. They lose out on money but it wasn't an investment from them at least. Of course, toy-tie in sales and the box office might have a correlation after all, so that would mean they can't ignore stuff.
