If Valve puts on their "Big Boy Pants" and become aggressive they'll eventually urge/force game developers going forward to make their games 100% compatible with current and future Steam Decks. I don't know if they have any interest in doing that though. The company is way too easy going.

It'll even be interesting if Steam starts showing Steam Deck compatibility like they do with other OSes.

Honestly, if proton is as good as is claimed, and keeps up with compatibility, there's not much reason to force developers to port to Linux, however they should absolutely list steam OS as a compatible OS on all titles verified to work with proton

I mean, I think it would be hilarious if Steam and the Steam Deck become the tipping point for mainstream Linux adoption by game developers and gamers. But this is getting extremely outside the scope of a Switch thread so I'll stop my tangent (and I won't rant on how I think Microsoft should just do a clean break and create a ground up new version of Windows).

Gamestop is selling Burnout Paradise for $10, so I grabbed one.
Also picked up Skyward Sword. I got it day one, but my nephew's copy was going to arrive late, so I gave him mine since I wasn't in a rush to play.
So with those two new games, I'll most likely be playing Animal Crossing again tonight...

When even Crash gets more anniversary love than Zelda.

(Looks like a good bundle, though.)

Seems plausible. I remember doing similar to fix a couple of Dualshock 3s years ago. They had a small bit of dense foam providing pressure on a ribbon cable. Over time the foam lost some of it's stiffness, so the cable was wasn't making proper contact and I was getting phantom button presses. Opened the controllers, repositioned the foam and used a little electrical tape to pad it up and problem solved.
Probably similar issue of some contact points getting a little loose with use/age and the cardboard adds enough pressure to close the gaps.

I played Ori and the Lost Forest for about an hour now, really awesome game so far. Graphics are beautiful, controls are excellent, totally got lost and fell down some weird green sharp area and died about 20 times so far testing my limite lol thatd what I love about these games. Its like, can I go this way? Not if I should or not. But CAN I go this way.

I love when they put things just out of reach and you sit there for a few tries determined to make it up lol

Super fun game so far, the basic attack and gameplay so far is very satisfying.

Welp this game got way too hard way too fast.. Either that or I'm no where I'm suppose to be yet lol. I got back to a tree and now went to another tree but I keep dying a couple times every other other screen it seems. I have it an easy mode too lol

What am I doing wrong? I have the first 2 ability things unlocked in each stream there (not sure how else to say it)

I dont even feel rewarded for clearing an area cuz all the bad guys just respawn

Ori (both games) are in my top 10 Switch games that I own (Will of the Wisp is top 5). But it’s been a little while since I played Blind Forest, so I don’t remember the specifics to help.

FYI, if it’s the platforming that’s giving you problems, the difficulty ramps up during certain parts of the game, and easy mode don’t change anything.

Also, the game keeps track of the number of times you died, and when I beat the game, I died 973 times.

Dying is OK in Ori. If you can't platform your way around it, you may not be intended to be able to clear that stage just yet...

The think I liked about dying in Ori is that the game starts up instantly after death, so it feels like a continuous playthrough. There's no long death scene or option to continue or quit that breakups your play, and I'm pretty sure if they did it this way, I would have quit, haha.

I just beat Link's Awakening for the first time. This is the first game in a while where I had to consistently use a guide. Now on to the next game: Luigi's Mansion 3. I really don't know what to expect.

That is kinda my gripe about modern gamers :lol

If you grew up in the pre youtube era, everything was experimentation or watching at arcades or finding some dude selling bootleg vhs recordings, maybe the occasional strategy guide with a few limited tactics. It was a slower evolution and progression by trial and error.

Now people just go to youtube and have them handheld about where and when to go, damage optimal combos, etc. Its so fucking boring and such little skill involved you could train a monkey to watch and play the same way.

Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk is 60% off (19.99) on the eShop currently, if anyone's into that. (Normally 49.99)
