There technically isn't a need for one because he never had one, only Rodimus did. You of course can do whatever you want with your own figure, but one hasn't been designed because there's no real demand for it. Magnus has one through JRC because he actually carried the Matrix at one point.

 

Yeah, I’m aware that Hot Rod never had one in the 86 movie; I just think it would make for a fun add-on, given the figure already comes with a Matrix accessory but nowhere to properly store it.

 

He doesn't have proper storage, but Magnus with the JRC upgrade sure has a place for that extra matrix

This is something I was thinking about doing as well for transformer toys. Not sure which to get or how to learn how to use it. So I would like to know your experience since I don't want to invest in it if I will end up in over my head.

 

Saw this on eBay and I'm SO tempted to buy them, that tilted foot deal on the Siege/Kingdom Magnus mold has always deeply irritated me. Those pegs look concerningly small though, has anybody else gotten these, because I'd feel more comfortable with some feedback before buying.

I see what you mean. The head sculpt may pose a problem indeed.

 

The 2 different sets of SS86 Grimlock clear parts + sword parts on eBay are definitely made by 2 different groups. The ZX / MSS sets have a pretty cool LED sword and have clear yellow parts (clear painted over with clear yellow). A newer set of colorless clear parts started to show up along with a black / red deco LED sword. I thought they were just recolors but they're not. The quality of the clear parts is not as good as the ZX / MSS sets. The black / red LED sword is much smaller with a fairly janky LED setup that doesn't work nearly as well as the ZX sword.

I mentioned the colorless clear parts in an earlier post. This is for the sword. ? which group makes the 2nd set.

In pics and in certain angles, the swords may not seem short at first. In hand, though, they're small. The annoying part is that the handles are undersized, so they just slide out of hands when held upside down. The side ports strangely fit correctly. The actual print quality is pretty good except for the bottom of the hilt. It's fairly rough there with print supports not removed. Picked those off, which then left unpainted areas behind. At least black is easy to match.

Unlike the ZX sword which simply works by plugging in the blade, these ones require removing the blade completely, pushing the LED cap firmly onto the battery, and then putting back together.

In certain views, it may not seem small, but better off for voyager sized figures and maybe even taller deluxe figures.

I'll be getting the T-wrecks recolor of the Go Better set and TH UM hammer set in soon. Hopefully they'll turn out better than some of the recent sets we got.

Now that I think about it, those swords that look like Shockwave Lab KOs are probably these smaller ones.

 

I still haven't gotten a shipment notice for my ZX Studios Grimlock kit from TFSafari. Kinda giving up hope at this point.

 

I'll report back when I get stuff up and running. I'm still waiting on a couple PC parts, and I've had to prioritize some vehicle maintenance with my weekend time lately.

The first SS86 Slug / Slag listing may be a combo one from different groups. Gap fillers and the repurposed KFC hands. We've gotten a few other of these KFC hand sets before, and bluntly, they suck. The fingers implode and are not stable in staying together. I also have the sneaking suspicion that the custom hand adaptor just plugs into the collapsed hand instead of actually replacing it.

Yeah, those repurpose hands SUCK. I have a set on SS86 Grimmy and they're really not great.

Hoping someone will do replacement horns for Slag too, without holes, in red and silver.

There's already listings on eBay for the transport vehicle but nothing yet for the LED set.

SL-109: LED light with magnet throw. Magnet switches are a pretty good idea to avoid destructively placing a switch.


SL-110: Transport vehicle. Stand for Ark in alt mode. Compatible with A.I.R. Lock ramps.

 

Hands are probably garbage, but the fillers look good. Remind me of the ZX Grimlock set.
