I mean, maximals and predacons are just autobots and decepticons but animals, and terrorcons are unicrons followers which is clearly setting up a franchise. I think it can be done pretty easily with competent writers
(I realise that's asking a lot when discussing this franchise.)

I think it will be a movie that has a 50/50 chance of being good or bad, and have zero reliable means as a properly determine if I think it is one or the other.

I’m super excited but also cautiously optimistic. If they told us michael bay was directing a TF movie with five different factions of characters, I’d be worried about getting another Last Knight. But I have faith in Steven Caple Jr. after his work with Creed II. I’m still iffy because it’s a lot of stuff jam packed into one film, but he’s a good storyteller so I’m still hopeful.

My main concern is with the writers. Joby Harold doesn’t have the best portfolio and I have no idea who the two writers are that rewrote his script, but they could still surprise me so who knows! Steven Caple and the cast are what have me the most optimistic though. Even though I have my concerns, they’re showing so much passion and excitement for the project that I can’t help but get pumped myself.

It’s also nice to see Steven has a love for Beast Wars and other Transformers stories. But more importantly, he’s a good storyteller. So combining those two factors gives me lots of hope for the movie.

I'm so hopeful but keeping those tempered the main thing I want is for it to keep the tone of Bumblebee for the most part while going bigger without being hard to follow like later bay movies.

It will be the best Steven Capler Jr. Movie made after Creed 2 yet.

    But also the worst.

Depends on what you define as "Bad", "Okay", "Good" tbh.

Personally, I don't recognize any of Caple's work because his work isn't in my interest.

Same with Joby Harold, but at least I knew his work? from Edge of Tomorrow, and can't say it's the best movie.

RotB would probably just do good enough to warrant a sequel, but I can't really see it becoming a mainstream thing (like let's say, Marvel or DC movies).

Don't know enough to make the call yet but given Lorenzo is involved and the situation with "Mirage" I can't say I'm as overly optimistic as I once was.

Most everything I've read about it hasn't instilled me with confidence.

This is going to be the last Transformers live action movie for a long time.

Why? Because it has a similar budget to the others but clearly there's fatigue, lack of interest, whatever. They can't tank another flop and continue like this. Maybe the China market can bail them out again, best case scenario. Time to enjoy the ride while we can.

Lorenzo was involved with Bumblebee and Blitzwing didn’t look like blitzwing, and the movie turned out great imo. Even though the Mirage thing threw me off at first (and still does), not everything needs to be 100% accurate to G1. The movie could still be a mess, but there’s still reason to be hopeful :)

It just a sign of unfamiliarity, or a lack of creativity, there are too many characters and two many cars to choose from, to just give a character the wrong alt mode.

Sure an F1 wouldn't work, but if you MUST. have Mirage, then why not a Wheels Out 90s car?

This 90s car would have been perfect

No? Steven Caple Jr. has stated that he’s a fan of Beast Wars and G1 so he’s obviously familiar. The movie is so far out and we’ve only seen like 3 vehicles from the set so it’s not really fair to judge the designs (or anything at all).

Being a fan of Transformers I want it to turn out to be at least on a similar level to Bumblebee (ideally improving on what we've already seen), but at the end of the day there are a few red flags that I think are worth keeping in mind.

It's very easy to get swept up in the excitement and hype and let your expectations / imaginations run wild, but these days I try to at the very least keep a firm grasp on the more realistic outcomes instead of allowing myself to get really excited and either let down by the final product or worse, blind to its faults and turning me into someone who will just defend a film because it made me FEEL good and think because I liked it, it suddenly has objective value.

A movie doesn't need to be well made to have value to you btw, I value movies that aren't well made for various reasons, I'm just saying this because I know if I don't someone is going to jump to the wrong conclusions.

I guess I'm betting that it'll end up being a fun adventure movie, with impressive spectacle. Watchable, but definitely not the definitive take on Transformers that many of us have been waiting for.
